She was already in Grease as Marty so hardly Ray who managed to get her as Sandy she got marty on her own merit so how do you know she didn't get Sandy the same way

i read somewhere ray was trying his hardest to get her the part of sandy. if she was so suited to sandy why had she not been understudying the part since she joined?
think it's pretty harsh to the current sandy. i know that people in the cast aren't happy about it.

Here we go again with i know people etc it becomes a real theme on this forum dont all the cast have to audition again anyway then they are given parts etc after the auditions. Just before all their year contract runs out so i cant see why it is harsh on the current Sandy at all Because her contract ends in May.

Where did you read that about Ray? because i dont understand what he could do to get her the part as Sandy.

Why are her friends in the cast are not happy that she got the part of Sandy?
They have known her for the past year would they not be happy she is still going to be in Grease and has landed the lead.

She only got the part because shes dating Ray :/

If the entire cast is to be replaced surely all those interested in the next run would have to audition?

i think they all have to audition again from things i've been reading but i cant be 100% sure on that

The only thing I have read is that Ray has said he would love it if Emma played Sandy - after all, girlfriend or not he has worked with her on stage when she played Marty.... not that he was trying to get her the part. I doubt he is that influential!

When Ray was annouced as the Danny, the offical website and papers said that the part of Sandy was now being auditioned, and it also clear from the now updated cast list, that most of the key parts have been re- cast.

Emma is used to the show has been in serveral West ENd musicals now, David ian and his cronnies know how she works and are clearly happy with her work as they are with Ray's. They can obviously can see that the two could work together - so why is everyone worrying - if anything it is slightly risky cos you never know if off the stage their relationship is going to last, which I am sure David Ian is aware of so must think their skills could transcend that. Of course there will be people unhappy with an audition outcome - there always will be to some extent.

Can I also just say, I have my strong suspicions (but no proof cos i can't claim to have a cousin who knows Ray, or an insider person that lots of people claim to have) that Ray was cast as Danny before DOI started, but had been kept under wraps. I certainly don't think he was cast as a result of DOI (but this was a real bonus for David Ian - what great high profile advertising)of your lead role). I think was as good as in the bag following his success as Doody. Didn't realise John Travolta had done the Doody to Danny role too.

Ray had nothing to do with her getting the part of Sandy.
David Ian offered her the part cos he wants to ride the DOI gravy train.hes a moneygrabber.
Ray is away on the DOI tour at the moment and otherwise occupied.
Im personally very disappointed...Sammy Winward would be a fantastic Sandy in my opinion.

But as far as i can see Minxymoo she is not playing Sandy for a limited season

You have made it pretty clear you do not like Emma in post and made some very harsh comments towards her.

I dont know what you know or if you know anything to make comments like that towards someone.

but in saying all that you have also made comments about Ray and Maria's partnership that have seemed odd

But she got her first part in Grease on her own merit and other parts in uk tours on her own merit so why does her landing sandy have anything to do with Ray she would have had to audition like the rest of the cast do just as their 12 month contract runs out.

I just think if you are going to see Grease which you have said in posts you are not as she is Sandy give her a chance first.

Well Ray is playing a limited season as Danny and as far as it seems Emma is not playing a limited season

So it's not just because of who she is or what show her boyfriend happens to have been on.
if she is playing the full season there will be another Danny in 5 months

Have you seen Emma in any musicals then to have that view on her and as i say if you dont want to see her but want to see ray then find her holidays out and book around her easy really

anyone who thinks Emma got this part in Grease because of Ray only are mistaken David Ian is far too savvy to do that - yes it makes good publicity to have to the two of them and also makes life easier as with Ray's heavy schedule before Grease they don't have to work on the connection that is need between Sandy and Danny

Emma is a very competant west end performer has been in several shows both in London and Europe and I have no doubt she got that part on merit - how people can judge how she would perform from seeing her sitting in a DOI audience is beyond me
