Unfortunately can't get that channel

Right they are on (last).

A&K are there to discuss the difference between SCD & DWTS (starts tonight with double bill on Watch 7.10).

Presenters -

Arlene - Huge difference between presenters. B&T are a fundamental part of SCD and have a special relationship, where as Tom & Sam are really there to help the producers keep show moving. Tom has gradually introduced some humour over the years, but Sam is just a beautiful, plastic 'auto-cutie' (their words!).

Style of show -

Richard said DWTS is much more glamorous & burlesque.

Kristina said it was very Las Vegas. Couples can wear virtually what they want where as costumes on SCD are much more restricted e.g. colours. Also DWTS allows the use of props.

Arlene said SCD follows ballroom rules but on DWTS they blow the rules out of water.

Kristina said she preferred SCD as you can't camouflage your celeb's dancing in the same way you can on DWTS.

Judges -

Arlene said although Len & Bruno are judges the judges never say anything nasty and everything has to be wrapped up in niceness.

Richard asked about Carrie Ann and who was she. Kristina said she had been a dancer and had dance with Madonna and Arlene said Carrie Ann then moved into choreograpthy.

Len is considered the 'hard' judge on DWTS.

Bruno cooks for Len when they stay in LA together.

Clips of some of the performances were also show, but all I can remember was that Denise Richards had waaaaay too much fake tan on!

Just shows how often she has watched it - you can quite clearly see that Tom does more or less exactly what Brucie does (yes - moving it along for the producers) but without the tiresome jokes/ catchphrases/ look at me stuff that Brucie does - and Sam and Tess are as inane as each other although I think Tess might me marginally less "plastic" (which says a lot about Sam!)


No they don't - they do the "Smooth" style of dance on DWTS which is a lot more flexible than the stuff we see on SCD. Len would have something to say about it if they "blew the rules out of the water" - and he does when someone does something they shouldn't - ask Tony Dovolani about that!!

The Americans have a completely different psyche to us... they are taught to be self confident and wouldn't take kindly to some of the rubbish the likes of Craig and Arlene hit our celebs with


Just like Arlene herself then - but was Arlene ever a dancer for someone as big as Madonna (although Carrie Anne has done more than just one big tour.)


In the early series Carrie Ann was the nasty straight talking judge - but even then she was like a pussycat compared to Craig - and her comments were nearly always constructive (see the point above). Len isn't so much the "hard" judge as the technique expert and he does pull them up (again exposing Arlene's fatuous comment about the rule breaking). Like he was on SCD last year - he got very grumpy during the time DWTS and SCD overlapped.
