I was completely thrown by week 1 being repeated first - what was the point of that (except to just fill in time).

I can't say I was particularly inspired by any of the dancing at all, with the possible exception of Gilles (but oh, doesn't he just love himself!) and the gymnast girl's salsa. All the rest were much of a muchness, and the standard of actual dancing was very poor.

That 'Jackass' guy, whoever he is, is well named 'Jackass'. Very weird! But as with last series, Lacey decided to do her own thing instead of choreographing a salsa which might actually have prevented the 'Jackass' (sorry can't remember his real name) messing about and getting 'injured.' The girl clearly thinks she is above the show; I had hoped she would have been dropped for this series.

I loved the results show though; some good routines - expecially the "The Boy Does Nothing" routine! Had to turn off the one with the girl singing as "Over the Rainbow" is one song I can't bear to listen to..... Otherwise the results show was good, and I wasn't surprised at the result (won't mention name in case someone hasn't caught up with the show yet!)

I wish they'd had Alesha in to sing her own song....and maybe do a dance routine as well.

I wish the standard were overall higher as it usually is in DWTS (although there are a couple of good'uns in there)

I wish that Jonathan hadn't gone out first!

Both the standard of the celebs and of the pro choreography was very poor, with a few exceptions (I believe I liked two quicksteps and one salsa).

Lacey is the standout worst choreographer for me. She hasn't choreographed a ballroom or latin dance yet.

I agree with you about Lacey Psychosis, but in all fairness to her, it was Steve-O who decided to muck about with the choreography and change the ending which caused his injury. The sooner he goes the better. He likes to think he's a comedian but I have seldom seen anyone less funny!:yawn:

I agree with you about the Latin and clearly he was pushing her a lot, but their waltz didn't seem very waltz-like to me either and that was their so called attempt at being by-the-book.

That's why I can't watch the "ballroom" dances on the show she's from - So you think you can Dance. I don't mind the other dances they do on there but when they get given a waltz to do for example it's just all wrong! lol. I know they do some of the dances differently in US but I don't like watching it. Maybe because of that show that's why she choreographs like that. I don't really know an awful lot about her dance background though. (I do prefer her brother dancewise though)

Steve O being the jackass guy?

He might have decided to change the ending to something really stupid, but not once during the whole routine did they do a salsa; it was just a mish-mash of nothing. And my goodness, didn't she sulk when the judges told her so!

Lacey & her brother - and their cousin Heidi who was on same show as Benji - all come from a dance background, as their family have their own dance school. All were trained in ballroom and Latin from a very early age; but did best with the Latin - Benji & Heidi once being USA East-Coast-Swing champions (I believe their winning dance is on youtube).

Holly & Dimitry - She irritates me - a bit frantic - too fast for her - better than last week - needs to get control of that nervous giggle though

David & Kym - Not impressed - she did a lot of dancing and he can't stop acting the fool

Denise & Max - Great costume - she had a wobbly bit in the dance - better though - good pace for her

Belinda & Jonathan - Good but very slow in places and timing a bit off - a bit embarrassing tbh

Ty & Chelsie - He really makes me laugh! Terrible music for a beginner to hear the beat to - really good attempt though - I loved it!

Shawn & Mark - She's a star - a little powerhouse! Fab routine - loved it!

Steve & Karina - a good try - but his top heavy body shape is always going to let him down in Latin - real trouper

Chuck & Julianne - Needs to straighten up - not a great deal of dancing from him, but what there was, well it was good - she looked stunning in that outfit - bit distracting

Lawrence & Edyta - Much better - quite a smoothie!

Steve-O & Lacey - Not at all keen on this guy - what did the school kids costumes have to do with Salsa? Why don't they just dance????? I know Lacey wants to be different but she still needs to keep it relevant - he'd be my first choice for elimination

L'il Kim & Derek - Fab performance and she looked great too - didn't agree with Len - she could be a contender!

Melissa & Max - Twists were messy for me, but really good - her ballet & cheer leading experience is definitely a bonus

Giles & Cheryl - Another poor music choice for a beginner doing the quick step imho, but he did very well.

Results show -

Loved the pro dance at the start of the results show, but is it just me or is Lacey quite as good as the others?

Steve_O - Clearly was desperate for the sympathy vote - what a pillock!

Interesting the couples can choose the dance they perform in the dance off - I wonder if that will still be the case when they are doing two dances a week.

Giles is far too smug for me with all his winks and stuff - much prefer Chuck!

And why on earth didn't they invite Alesha to sing her own song, especially as they could have announced her as a winner of SCD??!!

Shawn is my most favourite female celeb and Chuck is my most favourite male celeb - but I have such a soft spot for Ty! LOL

Ty & Chelsie's music : sometimes I wonder if they deliberately choose really obscure music in the hopes that most people (including some of the judges, Len excepted) won't know whether they are dancing on time or not? It wasn't really a quickstep, was it? But the dance was ok.

LOL! Well, I hadn't thought of that tbh, but now you have mentioned it I found it hard to follow the beat so it worked for me!

Holly & Dimitry - She’s a bit flimsy when she dances, very forgettable. It’s a shame Jewel had to go because I really like her.
David & Kym - Kym did most of the dancing, she isn’t that great at latin so not such a good idea.
Denise & Max - Much better than last week (which was hilariously bad), she had a few nice kicks. She looks better in hold, similar to Ty - both will be better at ballroom and when in hold but Ty looks so stiff and Denise really flimsy. I like the Chelsie and Ty pairing, they come across as really modest but I'm dreading seeing more latin from him. I haven't seen Chelsie's SYTYCD performances but she looks like a very good dancer so far
Belinda & Jonathan - The handstand wasn't necessary. Legs were messy, nothing good about it really, it's a shame we had to see it twice. I think Jonathan is doomed to always leave early, I actually think that he’s only included as a DWTS pro because a celeb specifically requests him.
Shawn & Mark - This was so clean! Lots of salsa moves I really loved it and I wasn’t distracted by Mark’s fast dancing…which was nice. This was one of my fave dances of the night.
Steve W & Karina - his qs wasn't that bad, he’s really working at it. Even with all her dancing talent Karina is still one of my least favourite pros but her routines are suiting Steve well. I don't know what Len was on by giving them an extra point for the song, I hope he was joking!
Chuck & Julianne - I’m really pleased to see Julianne back but I simply don’t like this guy. Compared to David and SteveO he did more dancing but it looked awkward, especially that twisty thing. Julianne was working overtime dancing around him - same with their waltz.
Lawrence & Edyta - My lasting impression of this was that Edyta looked stunning. It’s really easy to forget this pair but watching it again it was a good effort.
SteveO & Lacey - It wasn’t a salsa and they were given(?) a poor song. SteveO isn‘t the worst male dancer there - his arm lines looked good and he has fast feet, there is potential. I think the problem is Lacey relies on a few flash moves that she throws in but they always showcase her and not much else. Steve Wozniak wrote on his blog that the original salsa ending had Lacey kneeing SteveO in the nuts so it could have been worse.
Lil Kim & Derek - Derek always does entertaining quickstep choreography and this didn’t disappoint. There was the problem with the huge gap between them which I hope they can fix. I expected this partnership to not work but I’m liking Derek much more than last season and Kim’s a surprise, she’s quite sweet and enthusiastic about it all. Good pairing but I’m still trying to work out why she talks like a Valley girl.
Gilles & Cheryl - Cheryl’s ballroom always looks so unrefined and frenetic but this was a change. His hold needs work looks a bit but for a first ballroom dance it was very good. I don’t think Cheryl can go wrong here. He’s a very confident performer, he has rhythm, his popularity his growing, both his ballroom and latin are looking good so far and Bruno and Carrie Ann love him. I don’t know what the fuss is about his looks (maybe I need to see SATC) but they’re one of my favourite couples.
Melissa & Tony - Tony threw everything in this. He’s literally been waiting for years to really let loose with a partner but it looked like it had too much in it. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do in future weeks

After only 2 weeks I’m enjoying this series of DWTS so much more than last series of SCD. Even with all the injuries it all seems so much more relaxed. The celebrities don’t act as if it’s life or death and on the whole I find them much more likeable, Len isn’t anyway near as irritating as he is on SCD.

Trouble is, when Len is on Strictly, he is also on the 2nd annual series of dwts, and it's the continuous jet-lag that gets to him and makes him so grumpy. When he first agreed to go on dwts there was only the one series each year, and it didn't clash with Strictly, so there was no problem.

It's the same when he's travelling back and forth. He's less irritating on that DWTS series too.
On SCD it's as if he's unable to cope with the other judges (well mainly Craig and Arlene) giving a different critique to him. On DWTS he copes with differences more calmly.
