I received this letter as well today but it doesnt really bother me as i dont actually have a telephone plugged into my sky telephone line, its just got the boxes & broadband connected.

Its probably an effort to get people to subscribe to the more expensive £5 a month calling plan, which will more than likely work

So, Sky follows BT with the connection and per minute charge increases but not with the making 0845/0870 calls inclusive (OTOH, with their exorbitant rates for those calls I suppose that would be a step too far).

Interesting the switch to charging for peak 0844 calls to Sky - they must be looking to boost income - are churn and package downsizing on the rise due to the depression?

It looks like Sky is not the only voice service provider to increase the connection fee and daytime per minute rate:

Mentions TalkTalk, but I think I've read somewhere else that some other providers have made a similar change. I think this is in line with new BT Retail prices from 1 April.

Note also the mention of a possible monthly line rental increase of 50p by other voice service providers in line with new BT Openreach price rises.

How is this different to BT charges? Higher? Lower? Genuinely don't know. Will probably determine if i get the broadband and other package.
