If Alesha is tehre constantly though .. the comparisons will be inevitably worse though ... like when Natasha covered the last time Tes had a baby

Would have happened anyway, surely. Natasha was the previous winner, and series two started less than three months after she won so everyone was still talking about her to begin with.

Damn, I would love Alesha to co-host. Someone said she couldn't sing as well as Cheryl Cole that made me laugh out loud!

Think it may be Camilla actually, as she announced her leaving she intimated that she may have another role in the series when on Richard & Judy.

I have met Anton, in fact I've known him through dancing for many years - from way back when he was still called Tony Beke - but like you, I've never been a fan, not of his dancing, not of his personality, and certainly not of the way he has/can treat his dance partners. (I don't mean the celebs, I mean his 'real' dance partners).

However, having said that, I have seen him on various chat shows over the last year, and have to admit he is beginning to come across as a much more balanced personality. Maybe it is training from tv in general, maybe he is just getting more mature. But because of that - and I never ever thought I'd find myself saying it - I actually think he would make a good replacement for Bruce.

I'd prefer to have Gethin presenting the show myself but wouldn't be too disappointed with Anton either... I think he could give the judges a particularly hard time and that's one thing I'd very much like to see

Wow....always a bit disappointing to read someone meeting the pros and not taking to them .

Hmmm....I don't know, Anton can be very good value but I really think he needs to spend more time 'compering' something smaller before being unleashed on something as big as Strictly.

Its a shame its not true about Alesha as I like her, but I wouldn't be sure how good a presenter she'd be, I also wonder if she'd want to do it as she's pretty focussed on music at the moment.

I must admit, it does read like that doesn't it.

But what I meant is, as Alesha is being lined up as the Cheryl Cole of the BBC. It's a good choice. As Alesha is just as annoying, and can't sing just like Cheryl can't.

There is no truth in it whatsoever, and I got that direct from Alesha's mouth.

I had a WTF moment when I read the title. I'm glad she's not presenting, it would have been another thing to put me off Strictly.
Maybe because of the budget cuts they are looking at replacing presenters which could explain a story like this coming out. Claudia's got a new job presenting Hell's Kitchen on ITV, not saying it means she's definitely leaving but there are opportunities opening up for her away from the BBC.

I'm glad then she's not doing it.

The woman belongs on the stage, but not stood next to Brucie
She's the most incredible live performer and if she went into presenting instead.........well what a waste imo. She's got too much musical talent for a job like that.

Lisa Snowdon please. She's my first choice

Couldn't agree more! Alesha's doing very well at the moment - her single's just got to number 2 in notoriously hard to crack France and it's done very well all over Europe. She doesn't need a ten a penny TV presenting job..

And it's not quite the same as one member of a 5-strong girlgroup judging on a music-based talent show. I'm sure the BBC can think of many other ways to keep Alesha involved in the show - they managed it quite well last series.

Tess has grown on me and I hope she comes back, as any of the alternatives mentioned will have me switching the the other side permanently. Although the story is almost certainly made up nonsense, if the BBC really want to attract the so-called X Factor demographic, they must know having an 81 year old host isn't the way forward...

Please no to either Lisa OR Camilla. Kate Thornton would be great, she held the tour together really well.

Isn't Kate contracted to Sky though

I think she has a programme on Sky, but haven't seen it as I don't get that channel.

But maybe she works freelance? Not sure

If there's a job going at the BBC, then frankly everyone knows that it's going to be offered to Myleene Klass or Jenni Falconer.

That is the norm, isn't it?

Having seen Alesha's appearances on chat shows and live TV and heard her on the radio, I'd say she would be totally unsuitable for the role. Having seen Claudia on live TV recently I wouldn't let her within miles of it either, she's not as hopeless at presenting as someone like Fearne Cotton but I was disappointed to discover she is at least as bad as someone like Davina McCall.

Tess is pretty disastrous on SCD but it isn't just because she isn't a very convincing presenter, it is because the role is not really necessary at all. Almost anyone is going to be rubbish at it. All the spots do is hold up the programme unnecessarily and dumb it down a notch. Having Bruce (or preferably a replacement presenter for him) simply asking 'how did you think that went?' when the couple finish a dance would produce all the required commentary. A camera on the couples faces when the judges points are given would provide all the necessary reaction from them. It Takes Two can deal with everything else.

In your opinion you mean.

I hope your smilies mean that you are making a joke - I wouldn't watch SCD if that happened (seriously).

Reading through all the posts I'd say Kate Thornton sounds the obvious choice, although I'm not convinced Tess won't just do the show as normal if her baby is three months old. It isn't exactly a full time job we are talking about.

I thought Kate Thornton did an excellent job on the tour. She favoured the dancers over the judges, which is in keeping with the spirit of the show (I don't want to see someone who criticises or lampoons the contestants, nor do I want to see any edge of cynicism creep into the show) and she seemed adept and capable of thinking on her feet.

I'd never thought of Gethin as a possible replacement for Bruce but I reckon he'd be quite good too.

One day I'll have an idea of my own.

Yeah, cos really Hammy writes the musings and you are just acting as his secretary, right John? I imagine he would struggle typing with his little paws.

Nah, his secretary types it all for him. Hammy just dictates whilst reclining on a sofa, eating peeled grapes and strwberries and sipping champagne

No joke ! I seriously like Lisa

I remember Kate Thornton - she appeared to be permanently holding an invisible 'something' in her hand and she bobs it up and down all the time! She used to drive me nuts when I was a watcher of the XF (no more - I'm cured lol). And the lovely Claudia can't keep still when she's standing - she shifts her weight from foot to foot constantly, so she gets on my nerves too.

fussy bunch aren't we
