Disconnecting a BT line in preparation to reconnect
My main home landline is currently paid for by my employer, and it has active broadband, also paid by them.
The landline and broadband will soon be terminated, and I want to reconnect the line as a standard domestic line in my name, and get my own broadband service on the line. Is there a way of requesting the line be disconnected, whilst making sure its not totally disconnected? i.e. I dont want to have to pay £122 for a new line connection, when its really just a reconnection. Thanks in advance. |

Just contact your domestic line provider and ask them to connect the line. It could be done as a "working line takeover" this will ensure there will be no cease order raised. Your number may change tho but you may be able to get it back.

Inform BT that you want to takeover the exsisting line, same thing as you moving into a house taking over the line from the previous tennants.

Thanks both. I've gone and ordered it now, and they have indeed processed it as a 'working line takeover'. Should take a couple of weeks.
