Hello

When my Humax starts recording it cuts out some of the channels on the TV with the message 'no service' or 'no signal'. As I've got a TV with a Freesat tuner installed I thought I should be able to watch TV through the TV tuner independently of the recorder. I queried this with the retailer and was advised to connect an F connector between the outlet of the Humax to the inlet of the TV. I did this but I still have the same problem. Anybody know how I can watch the TV directly through the TV tuner when the recorder starts up?

Panasonic Viera LCD HD TV with Freesat tuner. Humax Foxsat-HDR PVR 320 GB. Twin cable from Freesat dish to Humax and HDMI to TV plus F connector from Humax to TV.

Regards

It will do this, only 1 tuner can switch the lnb to one of 4 modes required to get all the channels. A lnb can only get around 25% of the available channels at any 1 time. This 25% is all that's available on tuner 1 out. You need a seperate cable from a spare output on your quad lnb (presumably) direct to your TV.

Hi, If you have a quad LNB fitted take an additional feed from the dish to the TV.

You can't feed your TV from the output socket on the Humax, that's not what it's for, and it won't work. You need a separate third feed from your LNB to the TV.

also if it's only when a single recording is being made the second tuner on the foxsat should allow you to watch other channels without restriction so there would be no need to use the panny tuner.

Hi

Many thanks for all your replies.

It looks like I've been misinformed by the retailer!

On a slightly different tack, my Panasonic Viera LCD HD TV TX-32LXD81FV lets me watch either terrestial TV or sat.
For now I'm in France so get frog TV not Freeview, so cant exactly replicated your problem, but its worth a try if you have an old fashioned terrestial aerial.
Please let me know if it works 'cos I'm returning to UK, soon.
