My two cents:

The pros: I don't think one show has "better" pros. Each have their strenghts. On DWtS, Mark, Lacey & Chelsie excite me whereas pros like Edyta, Kim and Maks just don't. Dmitri is nice to look at but not convinced of his teaching ability. Similiarly on SCD, pros like Lilia, Darren, Brian, Flavia, Matthew and Brendan excite me, whereas Ian, Vincent (EURGH), Anton & James don't. I do think the pro dances om SCD are much better.

The band - DwtS wins hands down.

Presenters - SCD wins hands down.
Atmosphere - SCD, all the way. It's a lot classier. I hate the DWtS modern take.

Celebs - Who cares, really? Most of my favourite dancers have been people I never heard of - Tom Chambers, Gethin Jones, Shawn Johnson & the guy Cheryl had the season Kirsty won.

I'm an SCD girl though. I've watched it since I was 14 (I'm 19 now). I love it. And in many ways, DWtS is a total copy.

A few more points: Nobody, nobody can top the magic that is Darren and Lilia. Craig Revel Horwood us miles better than Carrie Ann.
Surely you're joking? How can you possibly compare doddery old Bruce with the incomparable Tom? Tess and Samantha are much the same however.

There is absolutely no comparing Tom and Bruce, Tom is far and away better, he has a better sense of humour, he's more charming and relaxed plus he doesn't feel the need to try and be funny when it's not necessary..... any necessary remarks he makes are funny without having to pause so the audience knows he has cracked a funny and they are expected to laugh.

Samantha and Tess is a more difficult one, I think Samantha just about edges it... purely because I can't stand the slapstick way that Tess humours Brucies jokes. It's so clearly false.

If I'm honest, I prefer DWTS. It's a lot slicker, they have great guests, I prefer Tom to Bruce, and the judges, aren't as harsh with their comments.

Bruce Forsyth is such a British institution that I I think you have to have grown up with him to appreciate. He's like a doddery old uncle that you can't help but be fond of. Tom is great though and fits in well with the DWTS format. Samantha and Tess ...? Meh?!

Obviously both shows have their strengths. Personally I prefer less 'faffing' at the beginning and end (as Len would say) and more demonstration of technique. With only 90 seconds per dance you want to see enough content to appreciate whether the celeb has grasped the dance or not.

What I did think was great was the competition dance on DWTS - a nice element. But I think it's a bit much to ask celebs in the middle weeks to learn 3 dances in 5 days. Don't they have day jobs?

I think scd v dwts also depends on the various series: The current series of dwts is far far superior to scd, whereas of the 2 series shown at the same time in 2008 I preferred scd. A lot depends on the selection of celebs.

Overall, I think I prefer dwts as it manages to appear fresh and new each time, whereas scd is definitely looking staid and old-hat.

I much prefer the camera shots on DWTS. They don't seem to have the cameramen that run around the dancers and make me dizzy watching! We miss so much of the footwork, and I'm sure it must be offputting for the dancers.
