Hi, I have noticed that when my HDR is recording, It makes a humming noise like a warp drive. Its not loud, but you can hear it. Does this happen on your box?

I don't have a warp drive myself so I couldn't say . But the HDR does make a noise, although you have to listen very closely to hear it. Sounds something like an Infinite Improbability Drive .

What have you got the box sat on?? I have a freeview recorder in one bedroom that is on top of a pine chest of draws and that makes it resonate so much that it can be heard downstairs but if its lifted off it's fairly quiet. Note to self must get some feet pads for it.

It depends on what sound you think comes out of a warp drive

Mine is recording in standby now. No other sound equipment is on in the room, it is very quiet.

If I go and stick my ear right up against the box, I can hear a very, very, very, quiet spinning type noise, which I presume is the HDD writing the file. Or it could be the PSU humming away quietly. It is much, much, quieter than my PC with the HDD spinning.

Rgds.

Mine only makes a funny noise when J Ross is spouting

Other than that it's silent despite the hard drive being in an external open slot in cradle.

Mine is completely silent apart from the click when it turns off or on.

I avoid that unpleasant effect by never watching anything upon which he appears.

Works for me.
