I think Debra has a plan, and thought so as they started talking about who was going to be the Leader, and she also smirked a lot. She's defo got a plan, imo. -nod-

What Debra said in the Boardroom doesn't tally with how she behaved during the Leadership decision.

Anita fired as you all know, but I would have fired Debra for slyness. Mona wasn't great at the Task, and Anita showed a lot of weakness.

Will be back next weekat the right time, I hope

Can't believe it's not day break yet and this thread is only 6 pages from last year's finale record post count. Hopefully the ratings are equally good .

You can have a repeat if you like Sido, as I'm re-watching the clip. Daybreak won't be long either, as it's creeping towards it.

Loved the first episode! Sir Alan straight in there with his witty comments tellling em whats what had me laughing and remindin me why i love this show.
Both project managers got on my nerves and dont know her name yet but the smug arrogant 'waste of a suit if i dont get taken in the boardroom'...def a snake in the grass.
They may be 'the countries best business prospects' but havent got a clue how 2 wash a car, wax smudged everywhere, dirt on the roof and inside the doors is not washing lol
At the end of the day ( god i hate that ;P ) apprentice is back and its great!

I can't wait for next week, I love the cooking tasks as they are always such a total balls up. I hope they have a return to the TV shopping channel this series as well.

Whoops, sorry.
I didn't think of it as a spoiler as it was shown at the end of the main programme and You're Fired. I've learned my lesson. Although they may show it in trailers during the week.

I would have sacked Debra, she's not a team player.

I fear that Debra will be in it for a few weeks to come. It was clear that Anita was going from the moment they went into the board room. Debra will become the one that people love to hate

I know but thats what makes this show what it is. Qualified people with brains with absolutely no common sense!

My money was on Moaner to go. Anita wasn't in charge of the 'budget', she was just tasked with making sure they didn't spend more than £200, as per the rules of the task. NO-ONE questioned that they had spent too much. Surely it was the responsibility of the team leader to have sat down and worked out some kind of business plan i.e. we will spend x amount on tools, we will charge x amount on cars and we forecast we will earn x amount by doing a b and c. Therefore the less we can spend on tools, the more profit we will make. No? Am I missing something? I think Anita let herself down in the boardroom big time. I can't remember now exactly what it was she said, but I groaned big time. Something like "I kept my head down and didn't want to be a strong character because there were already 6 other strong characters". Honestly!!

Debra needs to stop smirking so much in the boardroom. It was really off-putting. Other than that, I can't quite see what she did wrong in this task.

Moaner stood her ground fairly well, but she didnt plan therefore the group failed the task.

While it may "officially" be the team leaders responsibility, if no one else on the team speaks up and says, "wait a minute, we're spending too much" then they deserve the blame as well, afterall they were all there while they were buying the supplies.

I'm not a business man by any stretch of the imagination, I know nothing about economics and waste money like there's no tomorrow, but even I knew as soon as they said they had spent just a hair under the £200 that they had spent too much and it would cost them.

Me too, Frost. And yet no-one questioned it, so I don't agree with how Anita became the fall-guy for an error that none of the group picked up on (when it was clear to everyone at home), and that, in my opinion, would have been avoided if they had approached the task with a bit more business acumen.

*I'm not a business man either, I'm just a seasoned Apprentice-watcher *

Didnt Sir Alan say he fired Anita because her cv boasted about her "business acumen" and she really displayed none in the task.

Personally I would have fired the one who was in charge of the sub-team that failed to get the 10 extra cars, but they were all pretty crap really.
Miyagi
26-03-2009
No she didnt - but then, every team member was equally as guilty in that respect, more so the team leader, who I'd personally say didn't display the level of business acumen required to approach the task. As I said before, Anita let herself down BIG TIME with her silly comments in the board room, whereas Mona stuck up for herself more successfully and "showed some spirit".
frost
26-03-2009
True none of them displayed business acumen, but I suspect out of the three, only Anita actually bragged about having any in her cv.

Debra should have been fired...she is two faced and totally untrustworthy. If I was working with her, I would watch everything she says. What was the thing she was doing with her mouth during the boardroom I dont think Alan likes her...however I can see her getting to the second half of the series.

Its funny how when they were picking a team leader, when Mona said who wants to do it, there was a deadly silence. If you honestly believe the rubbish they spout, you would be fighting to be the PM.

Didnt like Phil (?) the Geordie bloke. Thought he knew it all. The Boys PM, wasnt brilliant. Everyone one else didnt make an impression on me. Nobody stood out. Howver it is early.

The problem with not getting rid of people who he doesn't want to hire but wants to keep in for entertainment purposes is that he may not get another chance until its too late. They may not end up on the losing side for a while.

Yes, because this is supposed to be about finding the "best" candidate for the job, not an audition for Big Brother.

Cue my cycnical self....

Well, ultimately, the decision is largely decided by the production team. SA wanted to fire Tre immediately, on the spot, when he came up with a faulty team name, after stealing it from the company he used to work for. However, the PT said that he couldnt fire him - he was too entertaining.

Anyway, Anita proved to be too incompetent. Although, he does tend to keep the louder ones in the first few weeks, but then they all start falling. Mona will be out soon. Not too sure about Debra

Wrong decision in my opinion.

All 8 girls had the opportunity to realise that they didn't need to spend most of the £200 available yet none of them did. To lay the blame on Anita was a bit unfair just because she was adding up the total, as she asked to do, as the others took things off the van.

Moaner (Mona) was responsible for their failure. There was no business plan and no real strategy. And she was downright rude to the guys with the Hummers.

As for them not getting the the additional £100 for the cars in the showroom, this might not have cost/won them the task. Even if they were allowed to clean the extra cars, the net value to their overall total would have been £100 minus any monies they had earned from the cleaning they did on the car-park. ie they only earned money on the car-park because they weren't in the show-room.

Of the others, Phillip stands out but I fear he may be another Simon (from last year); good grafter but lacking managerial skills.

And the short chap (Ben?) reminds me of Dustin Hoffman's character from Rainman!

Not sure if it was too much botox or overkilling the bronze but it looked awful. Shame really considering how she looked on the Comic Relief Apprentice.

Hi, but many people work qualified have sense as well as brains, and use them all, and have to if they want to keep their jobs. The girls for some reason were totally inept in that Cleaning job, which suggest that they have never cleaned anything in their lives, and let their mothers or servants do everything for them. That's the impression they all gave out. When Mona held up that duster and asked what's that, made me wonder if she had been in isolation all of her life.. It was so obvious what it was, so why did she have to ask, or even say anything about it.

I love the show, but the contestants could be a lot better, more with it than they actually are, or stop pretending they know nothing.
