he had more sense than the rest of them combined. I want him to win.

He KNEW he would win, and that's why he left (he didn't bottle it), he just wanted to give the others a sporting chance. His company also has a million pound turnover, so exactly why he wanted to join the apprentice is beyond me. What a knob.

I hope everyone who knows him points and laughs.

Bottler guy to win!

In the clips they showed on "you're fired" he looked particularly ill at ease in front of the camera and I was wondering if that might have been what lead to him "bottling it".

His name is Adam Freeman, he built a very successful ringtone company known as Phunky Phones. You can see some details about the business, plus how profitable it was, and how much he sold it for in these links:

MonsterMob buys Phunky Phones for around £750,000
Phunky Phones acquisition

I don't think anyone can deny that the guy was very successful in his own right, and there are plenty of links which seem to suggest that Phunky Limited were very good at what they did.

He also has a well detailed LinkedIn profile here.

You'll note that he has recently started a new company, PDL Finance Ltd, trading as Mr Lender here, but to be clear, he registered the company on 31st October 2008 at Companies House, after he walked from the show. Furthermore, he really does have a trademark for 'Mr Lender', registered on 6th February 2009.

Hands up who thinks we might actually have lost a good contender?

Looking at his profile and background, he could have gone all the way. Has there been a statement as to why he bottled it?

I like the fact that Mr Lenders catchphrase is "your friend until payday" to which I can only assume that once payday comes he will stop being your friend and go to all lengths to get his money back!

Hope someone gets and interview with him.

There should be t-shirts with "I was the bloke that bottled it" on sale.

Or send the boys round. Don't think that just because the phone co was sold for "a reported" £750K he got that - it will have been backed by investors "Dragon's Den" style, who will own most of the business.

The worst thing is that he took a place some else could have had. That is just not right.

If anyone sees him around point at him and say "You're Fired"!

Why should he get away with it?

Yes I agree - he surely knew exactly what the score was when he applied to be on the programme! Its a real shame that someone else has been deprived of a place cos he wimped out at the last minute, whatever his reasons were.

He's an Essex boy from Chigwell, so he will send the boys round.

I heard it was that he has a young family and couldn't handle being away from them but by all means, go right ahead and jump to your own conclusions

He knew he had a young family when he applied. Why did that only occur to him at the last moment?

But many parents take risks and make an effort because they think it will improve the life of their family. It is a pathetic excuse spouted by the inadequate - Katy Hopkins for a start. Compare it for example with our troops going off to Afghanistan for 26 weeks - withb the additional risk of being killed. The bloke is a to55er.

I caught the interview by chance he gave to radio Five live on Wednesday afternoon. He said, he didn't want to be away from his family that long and he was under the impression that if someone walked, they had a replacement ready to take their place. I had to laugh when he said, he told the producers the night before he didn't want to take part but he felt he gave the producers enough time to find someone else. The producers spent about 4 hours trying to get him to change his mind and would try to allow him more phone calls home but they could not make any promises. Apparently the apprentices get 1 phone call home a week. Imo I think he applied for the wrong reasons and took the wise decision to walk but should have done it far sooner than then night before.

Assuming that they pay for it themselves and that they aren't phoning during filming times where is the harm in phoning whenever they want?

Hmmm, ringtones.

So he made some money selling low-cost, high-price crap 'mobile content' to kids with more mobile phone credit than sense?

Suralan would have loved him!

its not really fair that someone else could have took his place-he should have quit weeks before

surely they could have got one desprate individual to come in

everyone who applies seems gagging for it

It's exactly that point which is causing the speculation that the 'missing my family' story is a white wash.

Seems much too good to ever have stood a chance, most likely would have been fired within the first couple of weeks after being project manager and taking the fall for the incompetence and unwillingness to work together of the other people on the team!

Pure supposition.

£750k is not that big a business and it's the type of business that would not need venture capital - i.e. very little capital investment and a very fast advertising-revenure response - and would probably find it hard to get anyway.
