last night I woke the Foxsat up to watch an existing recording, about 2 minutes after it had started to record "The Bill".

What followed was a bit odd - message on screen, to the effect new channels / rescan happening, which it did - three channels moved/changed, no new channels found.

Next it complained about no channels available, and rescanned again, then I could watch the recording I wanted to watch a few minutes previously - no problems.

Later I looked at the "media list" and "The Bill" recording which had been underway at the start of the above sequence of events (which I had no choice about, AFAIR) was "broken" - that is probably only a couple of minutes duration shown, and the icon at the side showing a frame ripped in two.

Surely it shouldn't try and rescan while recording?

Personally I would have thought it shouldn't, however from your description it obviously did!

I saw a message which asked if the rescan should go ahead and I thought I told the box no. It went ahead and wiped the EPG and therefore lost scheduled recordings anyway.

The rescan should only affect ITV HD recordings as far as I know.
