Well that's my question. Has anybody eaten at a Taybarns restaurant? Someone I know was raving about one that he had been to but I'd never heard of the brand before.

My mate has and he wouldn't shut up about it so i'm guessing it must be pretty good. Aparently it's an All You Can Eat all nations buffet type thing. Pizza, Grills, Pasta, Carvery, Salad etc.

I've been to the one in Newcastle Under Lyme - thought the food was pretty good especially the carvery.

Just choose when you go carefully as the wait time can be very long - its pay on entry and you can't book

Hmmm, the phrase 'Jack of all trades, master of none' comes to mind.

The one at Newcastle-under-Lyme is gorgeous. For the price it isn't Michelin food, but the chicken is so tender from the Rosttiere. Lots of other foods as well, well worth the £7.80 though I've read a lot of bad reports of ones in Cardiff and Coventry for some reason.

It was a concept started by the Whitbread group who own Costa, Brewers Fayre and Beefeater.

They were loosing money in some of the big brewster/brewers fayre restaraunts that had big ball pits in them because parents were taking kids early in the evening and then taking them home to bed so the places were desserted in the evenings.

They decided to convert some of there biggist premises into Taybarns, it is an american idea. The big buffet/counters cost 250 thousand!

I have not been yet, was a bit suspicous, as you say jack of all master of none, and they staff are the same boil in the bag microwave trained ones from before.

Excellent value for money and decent food, liked the gammon especially, the problem is that with the recession it's got too popular and queues are so big they're actually turning people away at ours.
