Aww, I'm so sorry to hear your news.

It's not weird at all for you to miss him, especially as he's been with you for so long.

Hope you can smile at all the happy and fun times you had with him, even in your grief.

Aaah. that is really sad. Our cat died in january and I cried for a week! I was shocked that I was so upset over him but when you have had them so long you can't help it. Poor you!

Thanks for the messages, he was well looked after and very popular. I think the worst is he has been around pretty much all my life (I'm 22) so it has left a hole.

Just remember the good times you had. It will be extremely difficult for you at the beginning but we are thinking of you here.

That's a hard loss for you as you've had him most of your life. Take it easy, it will be a while before you adjust to the change. All the best to you.

Sorry to hear your news, losing a pet is terrible and painful. Given time you will remember all the cute and funny things about him.
They do leave a hole when they go as they become part of the family.

Best wishes.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Bezzers, one of my lovely mogs died last month aged almost 12 (renal failure too) .

Although I've had mogs all my life in my family home he was the first one that died from my own home.

I know how you feel - it really hurts, but for him to make it to 18 is lovely, you should take comfort that he had a long and happy life with you .

So sorry to hear of your loss Bezzers, it's the only downside of owning pets. You can be proud that he had such a long life though and soon you'll remember all the happy times you had with him.

Take care,
xx

I had to reply - my friend lost her Lab recently, he hadn't been well for some time and he just gave up one night. She texted me to tell me, and I rang her back to commiserate, and later that day sent her some flowers. She was really thrilled to get the flowers, purely because I was the only one to acknowledge her grief over her dog. She told me that everyone else she told sort of said ''Ah that's terrible.. anyway..'' and carried on with their conversation.
Anyway, the point of my rambling is this - I think only pet people really get how hard it is when an animal dies, especially one you've had for years. I had to bring my beloved Bella to the vets to have her put to sleep, and I've told my husband that when our boys' time is up, he'll have to bring them - I couldn't do it again. It really leaves a gap. (when Bella died, the thing I missed most was not hearing her tail thumping against the sofa when I came in a bit squiffy from the pub and was trying to be quiet!) I hope you have lots of nice memories to keep you going x

Aw sorry to hear that, my mums cat had been losing weight fast, we took him to vets they said it was a gum disease, ( he went 3 times) paid all sorts for antibiotics & tablets (not that money matters) and the next time we took him coz he was trying to eat but couldnt she said he had a massive tumour!

I was actually raging coz he'd been there 3 times before and they didnt diagnose it, i saw him as my wee baby bear thats what we called him.

It's so sad as people say "oh its only a cat" yeah right i felt like slapping the idiot that said it, they obv never had a pet, theyre like one of the family..

When our dog was PTS on the 7th of March, our next door neighbours bought my mum a bunch of white lillies

OP, really sad to hear that. As I say, I know how you feel and my oldest cat is 19 and atm *touches wood* she's perfectly healthy but I'm dreading that day had her my whole life almost as I'm 21.

((((Hugs)))))
