I think all singing acts should be told to go on X Factor. It's interesting to see what else the nation can do

Rubbish. BGT is a talent competition. Everybody gets a chance to audition. Sometimes even a crap act can win or come second. See last year's winner and second place. Third place was a singer with a career that would last about six months. The only real talent wth a future was a singer, Faryl. She was unplaced. The only real dancer was Daniel Pirie, he didn't make the semi finals. The British public don't want to see class acts, they want to see tat. If Faryl had not been allowed to compete she would have had to wait until she was sixteen before she went on XFactor. Most of the speciallity acts are so unpolished they are like threadbare suede. They get through so that we can laugh at their ineptitude and take the piss. Unfortunately occasionally one of more of these crap merchants gets under the wire and are voted into the top spots by members of the public who are completely off their trolleys and for all the wrong reasons. Don't blame the singers for winning. they are just better at what they do than the load of crap trailing behind.

Singers should be banned from entering, they've got their competition, simple as.

What about the younger ones, like Connie, who aren't old enough for X Factor?

Wait until they are old enough. That little girl was far too young to have made an informed decision on her own about entering the competition. Puts me in mind of baby ballroom dancers and things like that, obsessed parents living through their kids.

Faryl made the decision to enter BGT, not her parents. It is for the programme producers to decide who should be allowed in, not the public. There is nothing new about talent shows. I watched them on TV in the 50s and 60s. Only then the public voted by postcard and bulk voting was spotted and votes discounted. Nowadays any thick head with a mobile phone can have as many votes as they can afford. The consequence of which is we end up with crap acts perpetrated by one trick ponies who should never have been let in the door let alone onto a stage, actually winning. If the most talented act is a singer then that act should be the winner. If other acts want a chance to win then let them produce an act capable of winning on merit, instead of the present case of a singer won last year so we can'thave singer winning this year. On that basis, to be fair, no dancers should be allowed to win this year, even if the dancer happens to be a budding Darcy Bussell and in a different league talent wise, than the rest of the competitors. Faryl found herself in that position last year. So whose turn is it to win this year? A geezer playing a bathroom basin? A flea circus? A geriatric belly dancer, or maybe some bloke who can fart the national anthem? One thing is for sure, the most talented act may reach the final but will not win it. But never mind we can all enjoy taking the piss at the winner all the way through to BGT 2010. What was that kid's name who won BGT 2008? I wonder what he's doing now.

I think it's Connie whose ability to make the decision to compete was being questioned. She's a lot younger than Faryl, but even she seemed to enjoy participating, and BGT isn't as demanding on contestants as XF.

I like the singers - as I can't see very well, I can't appreicate all of the acts, although it's funny to hear them described, and it can be interesting to see comedians or ventrilpquists on the show. My mum was watching the American version with me last night, and commenting that there were too many singers involved. Some acts need BGT rather than XF as singing is only a part of their act, they also play an instrument or do impressions/ventriolquism or dance. In America, there's no XF and groups can't compete in AI so they rely on AGT, and I guess if groups are allowed in the American version, they should be allowed in the British version. As for the kids, it's less stressful for them being involved in BGT than XF, and there have always been kids' talent shows on TV. Classical singers tend to do better on BGT than XF too - XF had Rhydian, but he was a very appealing crossover act, and although more classical acts seem to be entering XF now, they're not likely to put many through on XF when they've already had Rhyd and BGT have had several successful classical acts.

I do think singers should still be allowed to apply for BGT, but the producers/judges should be careful about how many they advance to the semis and the finals, and what else they have to offer.

It was stated by Judges that although singers are able to enter its not what they looking for, they want talent more than singers. So basicly I would say those who fail Xfactor Auditions shoul enter

No more dancers then either. There were far too many of them last year. Two so called dance acts were first and second in the final. OK. So let's ban the singers and dancers this year from the finals. Oh! And we must ban the instrumentalists as well because we had violinists, pianists a saw player and organist last year. We will then be able to see which extraordinary talent emerges from the dross that is left. Perhaps the BGT Live tour 2009 will have as the headline act a duet between a left handed blindfolded nose picker and a geezer farting the 1812 overture. Of course you have to let singers in. In the main they are the only competitors with real marketable talent. If you are in your thirties and forties and you haven't reached the higher echelons with your act, there is usually a pretty good reason for it. Like you aint good enough. The approach of ban the good acts so that the crap can have chance to win is just not viable. As was seen last year crap acts can win first and second places above the most obviously and supremely talented competition. As long as the public are allowed to vote by electronic means you will always get gross miscarriages of justice as we got last year. If you want to ban anyone becoming involved in BGT, then let it be the public. We may then begin to see a fair result and the judges will have to justify their choices.

I think it depends on the kind of singer

If its not suited to recording at all like the lad last year who made the live shows doing the musical thing and the drag act then they should be told to go on X Factor, such as him with the yellow trainers . But then its drawing the line between recording and caboret, take Irresistable from last years live shows. Which side of the line would they fall on?

What I'd like them to do when it hits the live shows is to group them all, so theres a show for mainly dancers, a show mainly for singers, etc ...

The only singers who are ever successful through the early stages of XFactor are the ones who conform to the XF formula that Cowell wants. Connie, Paul and Faryl would never have got anywhere.

Until ALL genres of singer are welcome on XF, they should be able to enter BGT.

Well, Andrew wouldnt have got on xfactor, by the time he was 16 his voice would have broken... indeed, it probably has now.

And isn't Xfactor more for pop singers - not really Faryl's turf either.

I don't see why singers should be excluded. There are too many dance acts though.
There were better singers on BGT last year than there were of the X Factor. BGT is not all about looks or making someone a star.
I really enjoyed last night's show. Susan was such a suprise that it just goes to show that people like her would never stand a chance of getting on the TV to sing otherwise.

Some singers on BGT are classical singers, so they wouldn't relly get anywhere on X Factor, plus the age thing.

of course singers should be allowed to enter, there are plenty of singers as acts at The Royal Variety which is the whole point of entering I thought, to perform at TRV...?
