Grandkids couldn't vote
Fleckerl
29-03-2009
I've just today got back from hols so please forgive me if this has already been chewed over

My grandkids tried, the whole time the lines were open, to vote for Jess and couldn't get a vote on. The lines weren't engaged, just unavailable. Anybody else get this? Maybe (hopefully) it was the pressure of numbers and so many folk were voting for her, that the lines couldn't cope

I had no problems getting through. Are they sure they had the right numbers?

When you call in to vote, all calls are routed through the same set of lines. It's only when you get through that the last two digits of the number (which denote which contestant you're voting for) kick in and you get the "You have voted for xxxxxx" message. Therefore, if the line was engaged, it was engaged for everyone who was calling at the same time as you, no matter who they were voting for!

I know on the night of the final a few people seemed to be having trouble voting for Ray.

I was voting for Jess and managed to vote fine.

Sometimes if a contestant comes from a particular town/city and nearly everone in the place is trying to phone in it's the lines out of say Liverpool that are busy and not the lines into the voting.

Sorry that's nothing to do with your grandchildren not being able to get through, shame about that. As a pervious poster said did they misdial and then kept pressing redial so never getting the correct number?

I dont think it was so many folk voting for her as she only got 15% of the first vote and finished a rather distant third.
