I know this is a fairly old thread but I did a search on Jason Mraz before posting.
![]() I went to see him play with Gary Jules at Shepherds Bush last week and I am still bowled over by it. This man has that special thing that you can't put your finger on but that makes a good singer/songwriter into a great one. It's so powerful when an artist has his or her heart and soul in every word and every note. The improvisation was fantastic and the humility of the guy was beautiful. If you get the chance to hear his stuff or even get Waiting for my Rocket to Come then go for it. |

Just want to chime in that I have his album "Waiting for my Rocket to Come" and it is in one word - FABULOUS! I want to see him in concert ... I have downloaded quite a few of his live performances and they sound great. He is a funny guy, too.

I've seen Jason Mraz a fair few times
- saw him at The Kashmir Klub (RIP Kashmir ), The Metro Club, Bush Hall and Dingwalls (now Lock 17) - he's rather damn good, and the album is fab too. He's very talented, especially when he improvises lyrics on the spot

Thanks for starting this thread. I agree, this guy is a very talented and original songwriter, and has a fantastic voice. I really hope he has all the success he deserves.
People can listen to clips of all the songs on Waiting for My Rocket to Come (lovely album!) at CD Universe .

Got it! You can hear little echoes of a lot of other influences in Jason's work. Neil Finn isn't hard to detect. But I've listening to 'Who Needs Shelter' and racking my brains to think of who he's been listening to... and I've suddenly realised it's k.d. lang. There are definite echoes of her album Ingenue. Wow, that's nice.
