Are we meant to dislike them all?

Because a less likeable bunch of full-of-themselves irritants I have seldom had the misfortune to see.

After watching last week, I have to wonder: what is supposed to be the point of this show?

Are we just supposed to enjoy watching a bunch of ********* make fools of themselves, or are we supposed to think some of them are good and deserve to win, or is it something completely different?

I think the entertainment comes from watching the big ego's fight amongst each other.

Also, there is a lot of bravado in the first ep which normally dies down a bit as the series goes on and people's true personalities emerge...

It looks as if it is deteriorating into this kind of BB-thing. A far cry from the first series where we had sound characters like Tim Campbell and Miriam Staley as well as big but totally original and lovable ego's like Paul Torrisi and Saira Kahn.

Now it starts looking liking a who-dares-to-be-the-biggest-nasty-competition...

It's true

I still like the format, i just hate the people they cast in it, the Us version seems to be even worse these days, they seem to only bother doing a celebrity version which just ends up being a bunch of celebrities phoning their friends.

The manager of the ice cream factory from last year is on record as saying he didn't know how the apprentices and their egos all managed to fit into the same room!

I will admit that this lot seem particularly unlikeable.... nasty from the word go and not even trying to come over as nice in the early stages.

Don't forget that what you are seeing is being engineered by the production company.

Apart from selecting people who they think will play up this way they are undoubtably being coached.

What we are seeing are admittedly ambitious people who are being stressed and manipulated by a TV company for profit.

You get a much better idea of what they are actually like from watching them on YF as they leave.

It's too early to form real likes/dislikes - at this stage last year Raef was generally considered a complete idiot, and he ended up one of the most loved candidates - personally I've still not attached names to most of the faces. So far I've got braces boy, man who isn't Phillip or Rocky and looks a bit serial killerish etc

Omg.. Miriam was SOOOO robbed. She was easily the best performing in her task, best performing of her team throughout the competition and she still got fired. Wtf.

Sideways mouth Kate. Who I think is the right balance of entertaining and proffesional at the moment, I quite like her. Only thing I don't like was her dovetailing towards the guys straight away...a sign of things to come, sigh.

So many moderately attractive girls abuse it, such a shame.

Wasn`t there some rumour before the show two of the candidates got together, much to Sir`s disgust?

I'm in the same situation as you and Agent Krycek. I can't really put that many names to faces yet

Every year this happens, three or four stand out from the very begining for obvious reasons and it`s weeks and weeks before we get to know and recognise the others.

Phillip is the guy from the north-east right??

Debra and Mona I can recognise but only cos they got a good amount of airtime last week being on the losing team and both going into the boardroom at the end

There will always be more treacherous creeps than good guys on this show. It's about entertainment after all.

But a few good eggs did emerge last year in the form of Lucinda, Raef and Simon. And they were sufficient to offset the villains and restore my faith that not all business people are nasty backstabbers.

I'm hoping the same will happen this time round.

Oh... Lucinda saved the backstabbing for last.... in You're Fired... real shame that....
