True but after recognising that the figure sounded odd they just had one figure that they didn't really believe. You have to wonder how much of a mechanical limitation they were under - all they had to do was to pretend to be the company they were catering for and ask for 2-3 estimates - did they have access to a phone book , were they allowed to ask more than one company and did they have more than one phone so they could try for 2-3 quotes at once?

Unfortunately it's one on the weaknesses of the program that voice-over man doesn't inform us of more of the rules, something he ought to do more often.

I think one of them said they could only get through to one company

Completely disagree. Probably the most deserved sacking ever. He lost loads of money FFS it was a disaster.

Someone did say on here that he doesn't run or set-up that business of sandwich shops (his dad does) on this evidence I would go with that.

Except Howard did speak up. He queried the toga idea when it was first raised, saying it shouldn't look tacky, and then when they were at the props company and he could see how it was going, he spoke up again. He said he had reservations and that it might be a black tie and cocktail dress do. He's then cut, but he's clearly saying he thinks it's inappropriate. It's around 10:15 on iPlayer if you want to check.

The negotiation wasn't Philip's fault. He'd been given specific orders not to take less than £65, and that just wasn't on the table. The fact that both teams got £15/head suggests there was no real negotiation: that's what the clients were going to pay. The mistake was not accepting the rate. The mistake was spending money on the theme before they knew what they were going to be paid. And that was Rocky's fault.

The first Philip knew about the togas and set-dressing was in the evening, far too late to do anything about it. And when Rocky tries to explain why they were doing it, Phil says, "Because you booked them before you found out what we actually needed." Which was spot on. I thought Philip was right to be negative because it was all so rubbish.

Rocky deserved to go. Nobody forced the theme onto him. Indeed, the theme itself wasn't too bad, it was the togas that were bad. And that part was Rocky's own idea. He forced it on the team, in the face of criticism from Howard and without Philip knowing what he was doing.

I was referring more the the cost per head business more than anything else. Negotiating the cost was the worst part for me - excruciating to watch and I would have murdered who ever did that research.

I must admit though I did agree with a lot of what Philip said this week and didn't find him that negative, probably for that reason.

Howard had nothing to do with the olympic idea or the choice of food, both of which Rocky went with and both of which were disasterous, as well as being the project manager behind a team that made a loss.

Howard also did a good job as project manager the week before. They would not have won the task if he did not get them to focus on their costings(which Mona did not do) or came down to the car lot to lend a hand when the other lads had only washed one car in one and a half hours. At the end of the day, the blame has to lie with Rocky who was a awful project manager...”

I'm not saying Rocky wasn't at fault - he was big time. But I don't think he was a terrible project manager (and neither did his team when asked by AS remember!), just that Howard could have had a major impact on how the task went as it was also his area of expertise as well. He supported the fancy dress idea (..."as long as it was sharp"...) and although he did express reservations as you said, he is not convincing enough in voicing his opinions but is very good at looking worried and miserable! Actually I didn't think that Howard was a good team leader the first week. He needs to be much more confident and convincing imho.

Rocky definitely deserved to go. Couldn't think of a more justified firing. Just read through this and unbelievably he's still deluded

http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/en...00/7977247.stm

He failed to get any lunchtime contracts, made his team look stupid with his ridiculous pricing, was responsible for the tacky evening showing (sausage slice on crips with ketchup, wasted money on costumes and tacky dressing for the room) and more fundamentally lost money.

Even if the evening event had paid in full, they would barely have broken even and he must have known that throughout the task, unless he was winging it financially all the way through. He made all the financial decisions and I'm amazed he runs a successful business anywhere with his lack of understanding of basic maths (make more than you spend?) He must have a good business manager and accountant working under him.
He then compounds it by taking two people into the boardroom who were " too gobby - James" and "didn't do his job for him - Howard". Despite having it pointed it out that Phil's negotiation skills were awful (Still blame Rocky for this for his stupid initial pricing but he could have handled the knock back better) and Noorul did nothing.

Weeks later its a north vs south thing as the Londoners don't want to pay £65 for his "canapes", can't have an overpriced "laugh" and he's been so hard done by.

It is a shame to see Rocky go. I liked his cheerfulness.
I hope he gets something out of being on the Appentice for two weeks.
This year the boys are more entertaining than the girls in my opinion.

He definately picked the wrong people for the board room.

The only person who deserved to go over Rocky was the little Indian lad, he's keeping under the radar which was spotted by Nick.”

I agree - Rocky should have chosen Maj to go into the boardroom with him. Maj is the person who should have gone - he was useless.
