We found it incredible to believe that not one person there had ever seen a canape before in their life (or as pointed out did a google search).

Surely at least one of them has been to a catered wedding...or a works do...or even looked in the chillers at M&S?

I mean they've sold packs of ready made blinis in Tescos and Sainsbury for years.

And what on Earth was the train of thought that started at "Upmarket finger food" and ended up at "A bloody great chunk of french stick covered in really wet tomatoes"?

I strongly suspect that the restaurant is as fictional as the chain of "sandwich outlets".

Agree! I'd never eat in her restaurant ever (anyone know what it is?)... it all looked, pardon my language, shite! I kept shaking my head thinking, SURELY SURELY you can do better than THAT!!!

Ewwww!

THe boys food looked better but was inappropriate for the occasion.
The girls food was inappropriate and looked awful, canapes are meant to be bite size pieces. As an alleged restauranteur she should have known this, Im sure the other girls will have attended some sort of function where they will have eaten these things.

Reminded me of the 'Jewish boy' who didn't know what kosher meant in the last series "I've heard of blinis" - how can business women never have eaten a canape or a blini??

They were just lucky the boys were even worse.

However I remember from the previous series they were not allowed to use the internet. There was a task in a previous series which required Nigella seeds and no one knew what they were, they were not allowed to research it via google.

I have never shouted so much at my TV as I did when they were making their "canapes"

Good lord!

Even with the cheapest, most basic food ... there was no excuse for the poor presentation. It all looked like something a 5 year old would throw together.

I'm still too stunned to speak any further on the matter

I get that it doesn't matter about return business on tasks (they should maybe do a task that is one on profit and who would be asked for further service) but seriously, that food was outrageous. Have none of them actually had a canape in their life?

The hunks of cheap, watery tomatoes baked onto hunks of baguette - looked tasteless, soggy and unmanageable. At the very least add some rock salt and cut them into quarters people, what are you thinking?

There was no excuse for the pancakes either. They could have been cut into circles with a cutter if they couldn't have got real blinis cheap enough. For people that claim to be at the top of their game, you would think that one of them would have attended a formal function that provided canapes.

Don't even get me started on the peanut butter sandwiches. Would adding banana or jam, or nutella, just to make them a bit more interesting, been that hard? I am not asking for scallops topped with a caulifower puree, but it was beyond shaming.

And why a theme? Just do something nice.

I was genuinely horrified by the product they served up last night and I really think I wouldn't have paid for any of it

great chunks of french bread with soggy tomato on it! I mean really, my 10 year old said 'I could do better than that mum' and she bloody well could too!

I can't believe this is the 'cream of british business talent'. I accept that Yasmina was organised but you have to have quality from start to finish otherwise all of that organisation could still result in not getting paid

I wonder if they would have paid a penny if the cameras hadn't been there...

i thought that dolly

i always wonder how they seem to get all these contracts and its only coz of the show really

Its here you'll want to be avoiding then - LINK

Although not clear, how involved she is with the food rather than the business i.e. they have a chef

LOL Good one.

There are some interesting looking recipes on the BBC site. How about these, thai-style topped pieces of pineapple.

Because they would not have been allowed to use the internet. There are all sorts of filming restrictions and that's usually one of them.

The food was terrible. The producers must really get the firms to stick with the dumb apprentice teams because in central London there are sure a hell of alot of options for lunch catering that are about 1000 times better quality than the garbage they put out...

Fair enough, if they weren't allowed, but I am sure I have seen them use the internet for research before.

No excuse anyway, have they never watched Nigella? Or been anywhere that serves canapes? Shocking.
