Programme clash
Strange problem last night. I had the following recording :
Football ITV HD 7:30 to 10:00 Relocation Channel 4 8:00 to 9:00 Apprentice 9:00 to 10:00 I thought there may be a clash issue at 9:00, however was interested to see what happened as the unit is still new to me. I as watching the football delayed by about 10 minutes and at 9:00 a message came up saying I needed to cancel a recording, by the time I had leaned forward to get the remote the message disappeared and the football recording stopped recording. I managed to stop the Relocation recording and then attempted to start recording the football on ITV HD, for some reason it wouldn’t record, just changed the channel to ITV, and would not allow me to select ITV HD only ITV SD, eventually after a few minutes I could select HD and record it. I then had to pause the football for 5 minutes, and started watching again, all fine and then suddenly without about 20 minutes to go the picture jumped forward 5 minutes to the live picture, I wasn’t even near the remote so don’t understand how that happened. Has anyone else experience problems when the padding causes programmes to clash. MY SKY+ box deals normally deals with and starts the next programme late so you only miss the beginning it does not cancel the recording. |

The HDR's recording priority is like it's UI, quirky (to put it mildly). It often prefers to lose the last few minutes of a programme rather than the first few minutes of another

The handling of the conflict message is absolutely appalling.
Definitely something they really need to sort out in the update. I know there are a couple of posters who hate being told this but that feature is completely amateurish. Just plain botched. |

The key here was to play back the second itv HD recording in chasing playback by selecting it from the media list. A known bug dumps the live buffer as the recording ends. It does not affect chasing playback
That was my first reaction too; but looking at the OP's timings, he was only 5 mins behind in TS, with 20 mins to go before the end (and presumably the recording finishing), when it dumped him to Live. So, if these timings are correct, I don't think it can be the recording finishing that did it here. Another thing that can cause dumping TS to Live is the start of another recording on another channel on another Frequency, whilst still recording the TS'd channel. This means there are 2 tuners in use with the 2 recordings. If the combination of these 2 channels doesn't allow TS, it will flush the buffer, and dump to Live. Rgds. Les. |
