This will be 2033 by the way!

Here's a few that I thought up:
Michael Jackson: Thriller
Madonna: Like A Virgin
Whitney Houston: I Will Always Love You
Mariah Carey: My All
etc...

...and some of the oldies that will continue to be remembered:
Elvis Presley: Suspicious Minds
Aretha Franklin: I Say A Little Prayer For You
Marvin Gaye: I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Of today's singers (those that lauched their solo careers in 1999 or later) I can only see Delta Goodrem, Dido, Christina Aguliera, Alicia Keys, Darren Hayes and Will Young being remembered or still releasing albums.
Hmmm if Jessica Simpson can sporn a successful career in TV, then her music will remembered too whilst presenting her own chatshow in 2033.

Britney Spears will only be remembered for being a slapper and untalented from start to finish....

George Michael, Mick Hucknall, Bono and Morrissey will be remembered as great singers and songwriters of their generation, all very different but with unique talents.

Well I will remember music that is personal to me, whoever they may be.

I think you remember songs that mean something to you. All those you've listed are not memorable to me.

Perhaps I should have phrased the question better. I don't mean personal singers/songs, I mean popular general public singers/songs that will be remembered through the ages - that will be past down to the next generations.

If people are still listening to your records 20 years after you made them, you have stood the test of time and fashion and will be listened to forever.

disagree with that point, there are many songs that i've listened to, years after they're been a memory, and thought how crap they are. not that memorable really. i honestly can't think of ne1 who has released in the past few years likely to be remembered at all. most definitely will young wont be. robbie possible, britney definitely not. to be honest, although not achieving popularity just yet, i expect soon they'll be an uprising from bands such as the strokes, and the thrills, who are making it onto mainstream radio more and more these days, and it's original material, which is what is needed

Daniel Bedingfield will be remembered, if only for one great song.

I think he was the only person who bothered to sing live on that "Song of the Year" thing on ITV last night. I've not heard any of his other stuff.

Seeing as I don't even remember that now, I guess I'll beg to differ.

I believe that '..Baby one more time' is the one of the greatest pop songs of all-time and will be played for years to come. The rest of her musical output has been pap, but I least she has one moment of pop-perfection!

Assuming you mean from the current crop of stars as opposed to those that have already survied the test of time like The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zepplin, U2, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Eric Clapton, Paul Weller the list goes on....

All of these are still listened today and still shift units to 'new' fans.

So who is about today that will be around in 30 years hard to tell, 30 years is along long time if you look back you are asking what acts from '73 would still be around today and very few lasted and those that have are not nescessarily the biggest selling or most fashionable (ith notable exceptions like the Beatles).

You can discount bands liek Blur who have been around fro the best part of 20 years already and for me it is very hard to find any acts that will acheive this. So many of todays current artists are 'disposable' dance acts it's very hard to think but here goes.

Will Young - if he can release a solid 3rd album that performs well in the charts there is no reason why he can't have an amazingly long carreer, at that point the record companies will be happy to sign him as a known quantity when it comes to shifting units.

Alicia Keys - in the same way many of the great female soul singers of the 60's afe remebered.

Robbie Williams - assuming he stays off the booze and drugs he will be our generations Des O'Connor, a singer that just becomes an all round nice guy presenting TV

The Strokes - as an underground act that it;s cool to like much like the New York Doll, the Stooges and the Velvet Underground are to people of my age.

Ronnan Keating - As a modern day Cliff Richard type

Sure I'll think of some more in a while
