Or "least bad" ... Am going out tonight, but I've got a painful sore throat. I know wine always makes it worse, any suggestions of something that wont dry it out so much that I can get in a regular bar? I only want one drink of booze then I'll stick with something non-alcoholic.

Thanks

Baileys?!?

Cola might relax your throat slightly- don't have any ice though!

Whiskey. Take a little bottle of lemon juice and honey in your pocket and you've got a (not hot) toddy. )

the OP should take an impromptu visit to Ireland - we get hot whisky and hot port in the pub here, perfect when you have a cold/sore throat!

Have you tried Vics Chloraseptic throat spray, marvelous thing. Vile taste for 5 minutes but will help the alcohol slide down nicely as numbs your throat.

Donīt know about you but when I go out for a big night out on the booze, I end up with no voice the next day, especially if in a club and a late one. All that shouting and being louder as you are drunk makes it go. So... be prepared to be voiceless and sore the next day. Then you can use the Vics spray again and stay in bed!

Have fun!

Vodka and coke - try to make sure the cokes almost flat though. I find the bubbles give me a sore throat even when i didnt have one before!

Don't think it matters, just drink lots if it fast and you wont even notice your sore throat, well until you wake up the next day when I imagine it will feel 10 times worse with a dry mouth and hangover.

Almost any spirit or liquor as long as there is no mixer with it. I actually cured my sorethroat a while back by drinking neat brandy.

Do not under any circumstances drink anything with orange in it, it will make your throat a lot worse.

Luke Warm (or Hot if you prefer) Whiskey, with Honey & Lemon Juice, with a few Cloves.

My mum & granny swear by this if they've got any kind sold/flu/sore throat etc.

My Granny 'doesn't' drink alcohol, but she will drink a Luke Warm Whiskey if she needs to!

I don't really get it. If you are only having 1 alcoholic drink anyway, then why bother? Just have a non-alcoholic drink which won't dehydrate your throat

When you have a sore throat - you shouldn't drink any alcohol really.

it's best to wait for your sore throat to go, then drink.
