Dog acting strange.

My 5 year old female dog has become very clingy. Wants to sit on me all the time and cuddle up to me at bed time.
She is showing no signs of being ill or having any other problems.

She has always been quite close to me and I don't mind it most of the time but im finding it a bit much. The moment I sit she is on my knee or sat next to me. She used to follow me to the loo sometimes but now it's every time I go.
If I get up to leave the room she is right with me.

As I say she is showing no signs of being ill and is her usually bouncy self on walks and meal times, she just won't leave me alone.

Any ideas why the sudden change in my dog? Or should I just be flattered she loves me so much
As I type she is tucked right in to me.

I have three dogs who cuddle up together, so I think you should get another dog to keep her company!

How long has this been going on for? Is she on heat at the moment?

3 weeks or so. She was done nearly 5 years ago . Do they still go on heat? Sorry if I sound ignorant on the subject
She occasionally tries to hump things so I guess she still does go on heat but no signs of her humping things recently.

Only time one of ours clings is if she isn't feeling too well or has had a fright, the other one is a clingon !

Could something have happened to scare your dog ?

this is not a sign of loving you too much..seems too be a sign of distress and she is looking for reasurment..have no idea why it may have started .
my advice would be to get her checked over as there could be a whole host of reasons that may not be apparent on the outside.

Have you been ill or had an operation?. Dogs are renouned for almost having a sixth sense when it comes to their owners, they know before we do sometimes if there is something wrong and quite often there are stories where dogs will cuddle up to their owners as they seem to know if we are feeling poorly.

She is distressed. Take her in for a check up. Could be her teeth, could be her stomach, could be something that is giving her pain. Our dog is a bit clingy at the moment and I think he's got a rotten tooth!

Thanks for all your replies

I had thought she might be a bit off colour but she is not off her food. Is still as active as ever ( like a puppy ) and will play if I get her toys out. She is only being clingy with me. If my hubby or little one is here she doesn't do it with them only me.
I think it's slightly miffing my hubby off actually lol.
Might still get her checked over though as you never know.

As for me, I haven't had any operations or been feeling ill. I may be guilty of feeling a bit tense at the moment though as waiting for some test results so might be the answer.

Thanks again for all your replies.

Thats your answer right there. Dogs KNOW when you are unwell and you are showing signs of anxiety your energy has changed. She feels unsure and is protecting you.

I have MS and got my Lucy to have something more to focus on and she KNOWS when I am having a bad day and will stay with me even knows when my legs hurt me so much she washes the areas of my legs that hurt. Its bizarre.

When I am having a good fews days then she stays downstairs with my husband at night otherwise she comes up with me even as early as 6pm.

They know you know. Good luck on your test results.
