So I finally got sick of the remote controls gathering everywhere and the horrible brick of a remote you get from Humax for the 9200 finally persuaded me to get a decent universal remote control and programme it properly. So I have been using the OneForAll URC-7780 (Digital 12) for a year and using thanks to the world of JP1 have got everything to my liking and have already recouped the cost by not having to replace batteries constantly!

Of course the Pace Twin downstairs has seen it's remote start to fail (fewer and fewer buttons are working) so I decide to get another remote (and also having to have a second remote to control the volume is annoying in the extreme) so I decide to get the similar OneForAll URC-7556 (Digital 5) and where possible programme the major functions to match my remote upstairs for the Hummy. Some of the buttons are rearranged, but this is no big deal... However someone in there infinite wisdom has decided to swap the Volume and Channel banks round, and also the Fast Forward/Next Track buttons (and there reverse counter parts)....

Now I have the dilemma... Programme them as the button says and constantly change channel when wishing to change the volume, or completely confuse everyone else in the house by swapping the volume and channel to their rightful home?

Arrggghhhh! Please won't someone design a cheapish remote control, programmable via USB from open source software with a learning mode via USB and an OLED display on each of the real buttons (can't be doing with this touch a flat screen nonsense)......

So similar and yet so annoyingly different - why?!!! http://img4.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01021d.jpg
(Hmm, there's an idea, a GPL remote control and tools...)

I don't know about your remote, but you are posting the wrong link to the image hosting site...

This is what I see...[LINK]

You want to be using the text from Direct Link i.e. http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/39/dsc01021d.jpg

or even just the Forum Link text
