When is a TS file not a TS file?
I'm attempting to retire my Humax 9200 and "fully commision" the HDR. Problem is there's still a lot to watch on the 9200, but we never seem to get a slot to watch it! I thought I would just copy the files (TS) off the 9200 onto the HDR. Did this with a couple, but the HDR fails to read them! VLC reads both, and Nero burns both, what's the issue?

The hdr has 2 additional small files (.hmt, .nts). Without these the hdr can't even play it's own .ts files. AFAIK no one has yet managed to create these from a non native .ts.. Imcidentally if these files are present on the usb you can play back directly from usb even including non encrypted BBC HD recordings.

I think even though the HDR generates a recording with the .ts file extension it is actaully a .m2ts file (I'm sure someone will confirm) which is slightly different to a .ts file.

As it's currently not possible to create the two sidecar files anyway I don't think anyones bothered working out how to convert the video/audio file to hdr format. |

Interesting! What would happen if I connect my external HDD to another Humax HDR? Would I be able to play back my archive? I had been tempted to do this to "show off" some of my Astra 1 stuff to a relation in UK. Does it encrypt the Humax serial number or something nasty like that? Has anybody else tried this???
). I don't know anyone else with one to try it out.

Pretty sure you can playback recordings on another hdr straight from the usb drive (including non enc HD). Not having 2 I can't try it. (Unless someone wants to donate one

what you could do is make a short recording and then archive the files to usb then stick them on your file share site you use and someone could download them and try on their stb

I wonder if this plays back HDR TS files ................. its new firmware update supports .TS files (with some .M2TS support)
http://www.wdc.com/wdtvprerelease/ "New Features: · Added .MKV chapter selection for video playback for MKV with chapter support · Added .MTS file extension support · Added .TP file extension support · Added .TS file extension support · Added 1080p 24hz support · Added disk volume name to folder navigation in list mode · Added EXIF orientation flag functionality for auto picture rotate · Added file size in filename · Added jump feature to the remote: While fast forwarding or reversing, if the “Next” or “Prev” buttons are pressed, video will jump 10 minutes in the respective direction · Added progress indicator for the duration of the FF or REV function · Added a blinking status LED behavior while drive is mounting; previously the light just stayed on · Added sequential .M2TS file playback function · Added additional subtitle support (SMI, SUB, ASS, SSA) · Added user selectable font size for subtitle support · Added song title scroll in music playback to prevent truncation · Added embedded subtitle display in .MKV files · Added additional subtitle encoding support for the following: Western Europe (ISO), Traditional Chinese (Big5), Simplified Chinese (GB18030), Japanese (Shift-JIS), Korean (EUC-KR), Cyrillic (Windows-1251), Cyrillic (KOI8-R), Greek (ISO); previously only UTF-8 was supported · Added display sizing menu for photo playback: Fit to Screen, Full Screen, Keep as Original · Added accelerating scroll speed based on how long the arrow is held down on the remote when navigating folders with a large number of files; previously only one, constant speed was available" Last edited by KDH : 07-04-2009 at 09:53.
