To inject a bit of class I'll add Mel Torme's 'The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire).

And the entire Phil Spector's Christmas Album.

Sorry, but did you ever read the title of the thread "Name you favorite xmas song" not a list of songs you think are good

The Pogues / Kirsty McColl - Fairytale of New York

By far the best christmas 'pop' record, I always feel a little sad when I hear it now because Kirsty was killed so tragically and noone has ever been held responsible for it.

I love all the 'old' crooner christmas records though, can't get more festive than listening to Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como et al

My fav is 'Stop the Cavalry'. The bit where he says "i wish i could be home for christmas" gives me tingles.

And the waitresses song Christmas Wrappin'
”

Good - another fan of that neglected gem.

Other faves are

Slade - Merry Xmas Ev'ry body
(recorded in an August heatwave in New York ... difficult to imagine now)
In Dulce Jubilo - Mike Oldfield
Stop the Cavalry - Jona Lewie
anything off Phil Spector's Christmas album
Wizzard - I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day
East 17 - Stay Another Day

A few others like "Lily the Pink" and "Don't You Want Me" that were Xmas No1s but not strictly festive remind me of Christmasses past.

Very true about the song. The 'accident' has never been fully investigated though and there are still many unanswered questions take a look here

Oh well, it is still a great tribute song to her, one of my favorite songs at anytime of the year.

Well, enough other people have mentioned more than one song on this thread - maybe not so many as what I have though.

I'm another one for The Pogues and Kirsty, they have been playing it on the Magic Channel a lot this week, and the song is still beautiful. I also like Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea.

Jona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry.

That was a great one, with deeper meaning than most Christmas singles.
