My cat

Alright folks got a problem with the cat. weve had it since it was about 2 months old or near enough, and its been a great wee kitten, but recently its been acting a bit weird it used to be a wee greedy kitten eating all the time but i limited it to two packets of food a day and left her some dry food out for when were at work, but for the past week or so shes not had an appetite at all, barely eating anything and im getting a bit worried about her. Has anyone had any similar problems if they have a cat? or any advice?

cheers

So your cat is an "it"?

How old is "it"?

Take "it" to a vet!!! ASAP - they dehydrate very quickly especially when young!!

OK - I note that it's actually a female cat!!!

I'd call the vets and ask them - no sense in taking any chances is there? She could be ill.....

I would definitely take her to the vets. As rainbowgirl said, they do dehydrate very quickly when not eating. She sounds like she has a bug or virus or something, probably a temperature as well. Vets is the only option. Hope she is ok.

Has she had all her injections?

Around six months they come into season and so if you don't want her to have kittens she'll need neutering then.

A week is a long time for a little cat not to be eating. Please take her to the vet asap.

I don't want to preach but I don't think you should have been restricting her diet. As a kitten she is growing and needs all the nourishment she can get..and cats take a long time to mature. It's not until they are 18months - 2 years are all their internal organs fully grown.

You may have effectively been starving her without knowing. When my two were kittens the little girl had a very slight appetite so I bought 'Nourish-em' paste. It comes in a tube and is sold at petsathome and contains all the minerals and nourishment kittens need and is high calorific. Give a spoonful of this every morning and this should keep her going until her appetite increases (please note that this is in addition to normal feeding and not instead of). You could also try her on some kitten milk until her appetite increases again...but don't restrict her appetite at this age, you'll do her damage.

Hope she perks up.

Also going to the vet tonight just incase.
