Pizza question
tonight I have a mushroom Dr Oetker chilled pizza, i fancy sticking a scrammbled egg on top. Do i cook the pizza first then add the cooked scrambled egg after, or cook the egg and add it part way through cooking the pizza or at the start? just wondered which was best and if a nice idea?

you could just crack an egg onto it before putting it into a really hot oven, like a Fiorentina (without the spinach but mushrooms instead!) but if you really want it scrambled then beat the egg and cook it a little bit, so it's still really quite runny, then spoon ith on the pizza, the hot oven will finish off the egg cooking. Is there ham or bacon on it, like a breakfast pizza!

well that's still good, but anyway, egg cooks really quickly so I would do them both separately, or as I suggested, scramble eggs very lightly so they are still a bit runny, but are able to hold their own when on top of the pizza, the 10/12 min cooking time for the pizza will finish the rest off, and yeah, it will go, it sounds delish (I'd have to have a bit of HP Sauce with it though, but that's just between me and eggs!)

oooo I love an egg on a pizza. My friends all think I'm odd but then casually tuck into theirs draped with doner meat and chicken tikka etc.
Anyhoo - I had one of those Dr Oetker pizzas the other day. From frozen - 3 mins in the oven - then open oven and pour in an egg into the middle. A further 15 mins or so and everything was done to perfection. Pizza nice and crispy while the egg was still runny. |

Also nice if you pop an egg on top of a pizza in a nest of creamed spinach !

I don't really like the sound of egg on pizza. I also can't have eggs in sandwiches either.
The oddest topping I've ever had was Green Chicken Curry in Thailand (saw it on the menu in a bar, just had to try it). It was interesting but not an experience I'd really want to repeat. |

I haven't seen a takeaway offer egg as a topping in a long time. My friends used to think I was mad also, but when they'd try it, they got what it was all about!
Has anyone had an egg in a calzone style pizza? I'm sure I have in France one time (long time ago so I can't be entirely sure). But I asked for it here and the chef refused to do it as it wouldn't cook. |

I've never seen egg on a take out pizza. Not sure it'd work too well - it'd probably solidify by the time it got to me.

[quote=Swarfega;31842376]Ah so I wasn't imagining it then. I seem to remember it was delicious but have never managed to get it over here. And as I say, I've even been refused it in a restaurant. [quote]
Could you still blame Edwina ?
