T-Mobile Signal Issues
Hello,
I'm currently with T-Mobile contract and am only a few months into an 18 month contract. I'm having an issue with signal, dispite contacting them, nothing has happened. Using the T-Mobile street check confirms I should get full signal in my area. I am only able to get either no signal or 1 bar. I've checked my SIM in other phones, I've used other SIMs, checked with friends on T-Mobile and done a network selection check on other phones. It's T-Mobile fault and after this carelessness, I'm unsure of what to do. Any advice? Last edited by uxbridge : 07-04-2009 at 01:03. Reason: Typo |

Can you say why you think the fault lies with T-Mobile? Your post mentions trying other phones/SIMs but not what happened when you did. Why have T-Mobile been careless?
Assuming you have eliminated a fault with the handset, or issues caused by the construction of your property, then you should start T-Mobile's complaints procedure as detailed in your contract. |

I get an ok 3G signal in other peoples houses, and outside my own house, so it must just be how my house is constructed. You did say you used street checker, which gives you a 14 day return. Why have you left it so long? Has the problem only just started happening? |

All other SIMs and phones tested have occured the same problem.
I don't have a 3G handset and the problem has only recently started occuring. |

Tmobile are useless.
My husband has not been able to get a GPRS connection at work for over 2 weeks even though it has worked for years. We have tried other phones, other sims and a replacement sim. All have no GPRS at work. Travel quarters of a mile from work and its fine. Tmobile keep saying its the phones.

I've had T-Mobile for about 3 years, always on contract. According to street checker, I should have a great signal in my house, my parents' house, my local town...but my phone doesn't work properly in any of these places. I've stuck with it, gone outside to call, etc, but am finally giving up this time.
I've gone into the shop and asked if there are issues, have been told "No". I've tried at least 5 phones, nothing helps. Both O2 and Orange work perfectly well in all these places, I don't understand it. I recently contacted T-Mobile to ask when my contract ends so I can look around, and they couldn't hear me when I answered in my house. Hence, no point in renewing!I had a great deal, but it's useless if you can't use it. Don't know if there is an issue or not, but I live right in between Edinburgh and Glasgow, so certainly no lack of signal here! |

The online reception checkers are not really worth looking at. They are merely a simulation of what they anticipate the reception would be like in any given area. This is based on knowledge of their equipment, sample and hypothetical results, published topography info.
There are lots of different environmental issues that affect the reception from the networks, i.e. type of construction, topography etc. The networks can't tell anyone without a doubt that your reception will be fine in any one given area. Buildings go up and down, the geography of the areas changes and monitoring these changes is a mammoth task, which wouldn't be financially viable. So the info the networks provide is reasonably practicable. Networks also tend to alter their methods of delivery dependant on their contractual agreements with other networks, and site providers. This may also alter the reception you receive over time, some times for the better other times for the worse. The network checkers should always be taken with a pinch of salt. The important thing to remember is, when entering into a contract, currently no network guarantees availability of their service 100% of the time in their T&C's. There are a small band of consumers that are pursuing the networks over the inaccuracy of information offered by these on-line checkers, however from a financial and stress point of view, I can only assume that this can be a drain, with only (in context) a handful of successful cases. To avoid the hassle and stress, the easiest (and most defensive) way to check is to use PAYG sims, before committing to any contract, hopefully this will avoid many cases of disappointment. |

Street check will not tell you you have reception in your house. Thats why its called street check and not in your house check.

Every complaint with the service offered by T-Mobile its either “the phone”, “the area” or generally not their fault, I had a brilliant service with one-2-one the problems started when T-Mobile got their mucky paws on it, but to be fair it was still a so-so service with a good signal even if the cost of using the service were rising
18 months ago that all changed, no signal for 15-20 minutes at a time calls cut off, text messages “lost” and the “customer service” is terrible, For me the final straw was the stupid bonuses they introduced. Maybe it was the straw that broke the camels back…… |
