Interesting.

It does suggest the return of the Ice Warriors.

Big Finish have just done a major Ice Warriors story, and it's unlikely RTD would have approved it (as he must) if they were about to turn up in the specials.

Cheers for ruining that little nugget at the end of PotD

Not sure the couple of thousand (at most) people like me who listen to BF's stuff are much of a consideration compared to the 10+ million who'll watch the special,

And it's not like he's ever stopped them using the Daleks or Cybermen.

He stopped them using Davros.

There's a world of difference between (a) Davros; a unique individual character and (b) a generic race of characters like the Ice Warriors.

When does it air?

Ugh.
At least it won't clash with Primeval again.

We'll see. In any case I think the title's bollocks anyway. I smell foiler.

Yeah. They didn't finish post-production on POTD until last night but they took the time to send listing magazines false titles.

Not liking the title much really -no idea why I don't like it it's just four words like Planet of the dead ..

I do think the second special is going to be very dark and the most sci-fi of the four specials which i'm a bit nervous about.I'm determined to look forward to the second special though -it will be a stunning effects filled dark stand alone I think. As for the title it's very old who really is it not -not liking it that much but fair enough if it is the title. Most people will see Doctor Who first anyway ..

Am I annoying you stcoop? Cos I can go on all week.

Edit: just so this is on topic here's RTD (edited again: or David Tennant even) in the Radio Times talking about the second special: "...you can sense the bell tolling for the 10th Doctor. Something happens in that one that fundamentally alters who the Doctor is and where he is, which is the sort of thing you can only do when you know that you're coming to the end..... The end is nigh. You can sense the Grim Reaper knocking on the door. But how many times?"

Sorry JCR - but your quote from the Radio Times is actually David Tennant NOT RTD and unfortunately you missed bits out that some others might be interested in especially those from other countries - suggest you have another look please !!

The quote is actually IN FULL ...

"Next week, we have the read-through for the next episode back in Cardiff" says Tennant "which will go out ... well some time towards the end of the year. That story really is the beginning of the end, but Planet of the Dead could kind of exist anywhere in the Doctor's lifespan. There's a little hint at the end of what's to come - an omen - but this is an unhibited romp.

When we start on the next script you can sense the bell tolling for the Tenth Doctor. Something happs in that one that fundamentally alters who the Doctor is and where he is, which is the sort of thing you can only do when you're coming to the end. That's very exciting and quite sad. This Easter episode is, I suppose, the last hurrah for my Doctor.

The end is nigh. You can sense the Grim Reaper knocking on the door. But, " he concludes cryptically, "how many times ?"

agreed, I didn't want to know the title now either, this shouldn't have been revealed in the thread title, what happened to spoilers?

Dare I suggest that it will be knocking 4 times?

What, 4 times? Repeatedly, in a rhythmic fashion?

For myself and others like me it means alot, it's part of the whole anticipation package! Either way I'd rather not know yet...four days is a long time when you're waiting! I'd have called the thread "title of second special, look away if you're a suspense freak"

Icewarrios... RTD has said he would bring them back. He also promised Zygons and are we ever going to find out why Elizabeth the 1st tried to execute Doc 10?
