John Simm maybe in one of thesee fabled 'nightmare sequences' perhaps ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Ch...ls_(Doctor_Who) )

Back to topic

Waters of Mars title is pretty straight forward from the trailer he's on Mars surrounded by water creating aleins with a thorn in their paw.

DW even says "Water always wins"

they have 3 specials left including WoM , just a theory but you see the water aliens at the door, blasting at the door perhaps this is "One knock", special no 3 will have one more "knock", and special 4 will have 2 knocks then the doctor dies.

Would love to know where the Ice Warriors come into that and in fact the Ambassadors as well.

I think you're all missing the point about the title. It is an anagram, but it's nothing to do with the Master. It's pointing us towards the thing that's ultimately going to kill the tenth Doctor, by polluting the TARDIS so that its atmosphere becomes fatal:

I'm really starting to think we'll see The Satan Pit or Midnight entity back in The Waters of Mars -theres something in the water ...Ten never knew what either were.Is it possible the two could be the same entity ..?

That crossed my mind Jessica that they might be one and the same thing. The Doctor didn't actually destroy the Satan monster and it may well have returned as an entity in Midnight before taking on another form in final specials.

Yep and thinking about it both were very alike really -Ten just glad to have beaten the Satan beast and leaving asap ...and Midnight well to me thats the first time the Doctor felt fragility and no control and it terrified him ..

- interesting to think the two might be the same ..
I was actually thinking of them/it only in The waters of Mars ...but if The waters of Mars has links to Christmas two parter maybe ..

Yes, I'd been thinking along the same lines, especially having seen the Satan Pit on BBC3 again recently, after possessed Toby's quote in the rocket: "I SHALL NEVER DIE! THE THOUGHT OF ME IS FOREVER, IN THE BLEEDING HEARTS OF MEN!"
Kind of gives it an undefeatable feel, a bit like the beastie in Midnight. Another pointer towards the beast/midnight creature would be the viewings of Ood Sigma on the set for the two parter, but the link is rather tenuous, since Sigma was post-beast Ood...

Yep with both Midnight and The Satan beast you totally get the vibe that each entity has great strength ...and were they to turn up as one in the specials would that mean they are drawing the Doctor to them ..

I do think we'll see a entity in The waters of Mars ..

Perhaps the Waters of Mars then is merely the entity... (to quote Jim Royale) " ... taking a great big pi**."

Being totally off the wall now. This entity controlled the Doctor for a while before Sky was thrown from the Midnight bus. It could still have survived in Sky somehow or outside her. But perhaps it needs another body to live in. And not just anybody, someone on a par with the Doctor. Even someone who is the Doctor's nemesis.

The entity was awful when controlling the Doctor. What if it found a home within someone like the Master?

And of course there could not be a better referral to darkness as the word Midnight.

Your ideas are so good Tigger.

I'll be genuinely surprised if this isn't it now.

Interessting theroy but not really relevant to WoM. Besides, the midnight emtity seemed to more of a one-off to me, but who knows what will happen in the series finale.

As for Waters of Mars I heard

Spoiler
Ood Sigma
may appear, any theorieson how, he could get to mars from
Spoiler
Ood Sphere: Horsehead Nebula
?

A Spaceship.

Spoiler

WoM seems to be set in the future* and unless Ood Sigma is a vision or can time travel then it's probably set post "Planet of the Ood". As the Ood are now free there is no reason he can't travel around the Universe.

*Though there has been some filming in what appears to be present day.

Well the Midnight entity lived on Midnight before it found Sky so yep thats a possible way for John Simm to return for sure ..
-fits with a scenario I was picturing for the 2009 specials also ..

I was thinking the Master might return different..

I'm hoping that any CGI for this special will be top notch. As they will have had longer to work on it , than if it was an episode of a thirteen part series. Part of me does wish we could see it a bit sooner too , perhaps as part of the August Bank Holiday weekend. Then the wait until the xmas story wouldn't feel too different to the usual early July-December gap of DW that we've had in recent years.
Just noticed that Eurovision is coming up and that's usually the weekend we've all had a big moan about DW taking a two week break in a series

No it may not be at all relevant you are right. Just following on the train of thought above.

As for your spoiler, I have been wondering that myself.

I've often thought that Benjamin Cook must have no sense of shame or self-worth whatsoever.

Doctor Who Magazine writer and co author of The Writer's Tale. He knows everything, if you read the book it appears as soon as RTD has a thought about something he'd like to do in Dr Who, Cook gets an email. He talked RTD out of the what what what scene in Journey's End, and for that I thank him.
