Bt line rental advice
Even though i spend most of the time in the sky/virgin and freesat forum couldn't find a place for this thread so posted here so here goes signed up to bt in october last year just for line rental as our calls go through sky now my line rental is was £12 a month for twelve months which i thought fair enough then go with sky for line rental in october. Now we have have had our 3 quarterly statment from bt and they are putting it up to £19 a month now the bill is now different than normal so had a chat with the adviser with me stating i wasn't happy with the increase but he kept rambling on about bt putting prices up and what have ya so have just come of the phone with sky who have said they will take over the line rental but i would have to ring back bt first now i have about 5 months of my bt contract left have i a good case to get out without penalty? as i signed up for 12 months at £12 a month only.

Jesus, that is hard to read.
BT don't have a line rental option that is £19 a month so I think there is a bit of confusion somewhere. Do you pay by direct debit? Paper free billing? PS You wouldn't have signed up to 12 months at £12 only. |

If your calls are with Sky, then shouldnt your BT bill be for the line rental only ???, from April 09 BT line rental went up to £11.25 ( direct debit/paperless billing),if you want to go to Sky then thats the price you need to compare Skys price to,
It sounds like because you use Sky for your calls then you dont make any calls over BT to qualify for 'free' caller display/ BT answer ,so you are probably being charged 'rental' for those facilitys (how else can you get the BT bill to £19/month if there isnt any 'calls' on the BT bill) Did you sign up for any sort of calls package in October 08 or did you benefit from a reduced install price ,if so then you probably wont be able to move to Sky for line rental without penalty, |

No call charges and no added facilitys to line has been up years so didnt have to pay an install fee he just said about increased prices but dont worry i will be chasing it up as i signed up for line rental only for £12 per month.

Just move your line rental over to Sky when you can. It's £10 a month which is line rental, caller display and free eve and weekend calls.
And yes I know people bang on about leaving line rental with BT so that you can use short codes for different carriers etc, but virtually all of those carriers also use 0800 numbers for access too, so still free and easy to use if necessary. Why pay BT more for something you can get for less? |
