Hi,
l'm interested in finally getting a DVD player, but wanted one that will play region 1 and 2.

On the specs of a player, must it say it will play region 1 and 2, or if it just says PAL and NTSC compatible, does this mean the same thing.

Thanks in advance
Craig.

DVD players available to buy in this country can only play Region 2 discs. However, DVD players can be chipped beforehand by purchasing on the net and a lot of players can be multi-region enabled by entering a series of codes on the remote. The latter players would then be able to play multi region discs.

Even if a DVD players states NTSC it doesn't mean it will play region 1 discs, just discs that are encoded in the NTSC format, many region free discs are NTSC

Check out richer-sounds http://www.richersounds.com multi-region players from £90, stores country-wide.

They used to sell a Logix DVD3000

Plays DVD, V-CD, and MP3.
Reads CD-R & CD-R/W
Television signal NTSC/PAL.
Coaxial Digital Output.
S-Video out, Scart Conection.
Multi region

Which had very good picture quality, was a very good machine.

Hi!

I just got a dvd player for the first time off the internet from this country and i'm able to play all six regions. It cost £189 fairly good for a dvd player from webelectricals.co.uk, they have many dvd players that are multi region. If you need to know anything email me: ntmilford@netscape.net! Good luck!

Hi!

I'd recommend you visit www.upgradeheaven.co.uk

They sell pre-modded players and can also chip your existing machine if you want multi-region capability.

Richer Sounds (www.richersounds.co.uk) is also worth a look as well!

Hope this helps
