Hi,

I've got a Sony KDL-32V4000 and a Sky+ box, box of which are only a couple of months old. Yesterday, I couldn't get the box to come on for me with the remote so I switched the power off to reboot it and this seemed to work.

Since then, the picture settings have been all over the place. I always have the TV set to "Wide" but it's not holding that anymore. It's really weird, I was watching an episode of The Wire on the planner last night and the screen was on Wide while the BBC2 adverts were on at the beginning but as soon as the programme started it jumped to a much smaller and condensed looking picture - I think it said 4/3???

Can anyone tell me what's gone wrong? Is it the box or the tv? I've looked at the picture settings in the Sky menu and they don't seem to have changed since they were originally set up by the engineer. Any help gratefully received - it's driving me nuts! Thanks.

set the sky box to 16,9 and save new settings

also try switching the sky box off at the wall for 4 minutes................ it cures a thousand faults

Thanks Niall, tried both suggestions but it's still jumping back to the "narrow" screen. Is it likely to the box that's at fault rather than the tv? I've done a system reboot with the Sky guys on the phone but I can't remember how to do it. Would that help do you think? Thanks again.

On one of the Sony setup menus there's an option "Auto Screen Format", try setting that to OFF, the TV will then stay in Wide format (if you set it to Wide).
