Digital Spy is a spoiler

I'm sorry but I need to get this off my chest

I love Digital Spy, it's a great home page but 2 weeks out of 3 I have seen who is fired on the Apprentice before I get a chance to watch it.

No ones fault but my own I guess, oh well bbc.co.uk will have to be my homepage....... I'm not happy tho

Just a real shame the info has to be posted within minutes of the result being shown.

I'm sure similar threads are about... I did search but never found any.

The newspaper this morning led me to believe it was the official site that let the cat out of the bag before the programme was aired, not DS.

They can't put it on hold until they think everyone has watched it.

Don't look then.

It's a spoiler if it appears before prog is aired.

Afterwards, It's just you being slow to watch.

Too bad.

You either watch at the time it airs, or don't come on DS (which really, after the 1st time you should have thought about... ) until you have watched to avoid spoilers.

That is 100% true.

You can't expect everyone to halt just because you haven't seen a show.

Thanks for the replies and I appreciate your opinions and agree with them.

I work shifts so I'm not always able to watch tv when programs such as the Apprentice is aired and therefore have to rely on my pvr when I get the chance.

I fully understand DS has to show the latest entertainment news. I'm agreeing I just wanted to put my point across about my disappointment in not having DS as my homepage

BBC is so boring as a homepage lol, I'm already bored with it

I totally agree, most other sites, msn, bbc, yahoo, whatever manage to have it on their frontpages without actually giving away who was fired. Is it so hard to ask people who know/want to know make 1 more click? You would think in this age of Sky+, PVRS, DVD recorders, +1 channels, iplayer and so on Digital Spy would have a bit more common sense than to assume everyone who visits this site watches everything exactly when its 1st broadcast.

DigitalSpy avoid spoiling American Idol. They always put "another contestant eliminated" or something as the headline so you have to click the link to see who it was. Their current headline is "Axed Idol star defends last performance" - rather than said person's name - even though the article was put up 24hours after the show had aired in the UK. I don't know why they can't do the same with The Apprentice

Whilst I agree that it's not a spoiler if the programme has been aired they could be more subtle about it.

I am sorry but I might look at digital spy before I watch an episode. I came on tonight to post in advice forum and was greeted by the face and name of who gets fired.

Digital spy please don't reveal on the front page, as other posters have mentioned other sites manage not to. I am quite miffed as I am having a hard week and was looking forward to catching up on iplayer.

I do partly agree with the OP on this - two weeks of Apprentice spoiled because I've taped it on Sky+ then logged onto Digital Spy without thinking...but then I agree with others saying it's your own fault.

They should say something like "Next 'Apprentice' candidate fired" on the homepage with a picture of Siralan or something on the night of broadcast. Then the next day change it to display the actual candidate.

I agree with the people who are annoyed - I watched the football this evening and I knew last week that it would clash with the Apprentice tonight but wasn't worried as I have set up the Sky+ to series link it because I hardly ever am in to watch programmes in real time ... I then forgot about it, watched the football and logged into here - straight into the forums (so managed to avoid the front page) then unthinking, I clicked onto the homepage and up came the "reveal"

I was so annoyed! I know it was my own fault for coming online, but I genuinely forgot that the Apprentice was on tonight as I have the Sky+ box set to record anyway and I had been watching the football as opposed to the Apprentice earlier and hadn't had a chance to watch it yet so it is a bit harsh that I have been unnecessarily spoiled just because I didn't watch it in "real time" and chose to come on here before I watched the programme. I don't mind an article being reported and posted on the front page, but does the whole outcome have to be posted up?

Couldn't they just do what they do with other "spoiler" stories - a general title (eg Latest Apprentice Star Fired) then if you click into the actual article then all of the specifics are revealed. It's not like we are asking for it not to be posted up, just give some of us chance to watch it before we get spoiled by inadvertently seeing the result posted very obviously on the homepage of the site straight after the show has aired.

I have to agree. There is a way to cover the news without giving it away on the front page. I've just been caught out AGAIN.
Shockingly some of us (Brits abroad) are having to watch it from itunes and things are a little delayed!

I got caught out too. On night shift and logged on and there it was.

I agree with the OP, I am in the USA and I dont get to see the episode until around 4 hrs after it has been on in the UK. DS is my fave website and its great that it is so on the ball and reveals the info asap however, all it has to say is "4th candidate fired" and as others have said, you can then click on the story and find out who it is thats gone.
As for the OP saying they have changed to the BBC site - dont do it, that now also reveals who has left straightaway!!

I had it spoiled for me last week, but this week I remembered not to log onto DS beforehand.

Please Digital Spy gods, sort it out. All you've got to do is put the information in the main article instead of on the front page.

Once the programme has been aired DS have every right to announce the result.

As for American Idol they publicise the result after it has aired here.

If people don't want to know they are best to avoid all press and forums until they have watched their recordings.

OF course they have every right but it doesn't need to be in the headline.

It is a news/entertainment site of sorts so of course will have headlines as and when it happens.

Your absolutely right dome.

It's quiet simple if you know DS are going to post the news don't come here until you have seen the show. I'd be more annoyed if they told me who was going to be fired before the show aired.

What next calling for the BBC not to interview the latest casualty on Breakfast News the following morning?

No need for the drama "every right"

All I think is that DS could do what other sites do and not give it in the title of the article. Just had shitty week and was looking forward to a bit of chewing gum for the mind which is now a bit pointless

Well up till today (well 1am this morning) I didn't know that DS posted the photo and name of the fired candidate on the front page as I have the forums bookmarked and only go onto the main homepage occasionally. And whilst I normally try to stay away from potential spoilers till I have seen a show, sometimes it is accidental and can't be helped.

As for the thing about the BBC Breakfast News, by the next morning people have either had a chance to watch the show or should expect to have the result revealed to them as they have had plenty of time to catch up ... however having it shoved in your face on the main homepage of DS the second the show is over on BBC1 is a totally different issue, especially if you don't know how explicit the "reveal" is beforehand.

The point is that nobody is asking DS not to post up the news, just to make it less "in your face" ... I mean the title I could possibly skip over and not read properly but having the fired candidate's photo on the page draws your attention to it straight away ... why not use a picture of Sir Alan and have a title like "Xth Apprentice Star Fired"?
