Hi.
Not to techy please?

I have a Canon IXUS 75 Dgital Camera and a Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9 camcorder.

I'm going to the States next Tuesday, Do I just take my little battery chargers thingy and buy a power cord whilst I'm there to charge up the battery?

You could even buy adapters here in the UK as long as they can take the lower voltages, most consumer electronics can. Thats what I done, Boots, Tesco, ASDA all stock them, used them on all my electrical devices.

Do your battery chargers say they will work with an input of 110v?

Look at the label on them. If it says 'Input Voltage 220-250v' or similar, it will not work in the USA.

If it says 'Input Voltage 110-250', or similar, it will work in the USA with the correct plug or adaptor.

If you are not sure post what it says for 'Input Voltage'.

For the Sanyo it says on the back
Input =100-240 50/60hz
output= 4.2v----650ma

Canon
input =100v-240v AC 60/60HZ
output =4/2v-----0.65A

I presume then they will work in the U.S just need to get power cord/cables when I get there.

check which luggage your supposed to pack them in
& check if the batteries need to be removed

the americans can get a bit funny with things

dont know if that applies for international flights, but worth checking

I think it might be simpler if you just take your entire UK power cord with you (not just from the transformer onwards) and use a travel adaptor.

Just make sure your travel adapter has an inverter for the voltage so it gets transformed from 110V to 220V and is not just a pin adaptor.

Pin adaptors are the dangerous ones.

These are fine for the USA.
Rather than buy new power leads look for a travel adaptor that takes the UK three pin plug and has a USA flat two pin (or three pin plug). These can be bought in, say, Boots or airport duty free.
