If I was going to guest on Doctor Who, I'd make sure it was in the contract!

I didn't mind the running joke of the Doctor non-romantically snogging all his companions for a while, but it's getting a bit old. It made me laugh when Donna kissed him, because there really was no romance at all between them, but I think that's enough now.

Hopefully it will turn out to be just a tenth Doctor thing (after all, I don't recall the ninth Doctor kissing Adam ), and the theme will disappear before it gets (more) stale.

I have to confess I hate that bloody thing more than any kissing. It was bad enough to start with, but when he started holding it out like a gun EVERY EPISODE. God, don't get me started.”

You dislike the writers agenda, calling them lazy and sensationalist and you hate the sonic screwdriver....sorry why do you watch it then??

Next you'll be saying you don't like time travel as it's not plausible!!!

It was, but I'm assuming that was a one off. If the ninth Doctor had companions before Rose, which may well not be the case, we don't know of him snogging any of them. The tenth Doctor makes rather a habit of it.

I know I'm probably clutching at straws, but I'm hoping the need to snog every companion is just a tenth Doctor thing. If it becomes a requirement for the eleventh and all future doctors to kiss every companion at some point, it could get rather tedious. Not to mention potentially awkward, if, say, the Doctor picked up another K-9 at some point

Why do some of you not like kissing? What's wrong with you? Let's face it, if I had an opportunity to kiss the likes of Kylie, Freema, Michelle Ryan, Billie Piper, etc. WOOHOO! Yes please! Although I'd probably think twice about JB (you wouldn't know WHERE his mouth had been!!!)

If the snogging was going on for 20 minutes every episode then I might agree with you, but at probably not much more than a minute during an entire series - GROW UP AND GET OVER IT!

Wow, you've sure got me. Sorry, does that mean you sit down to watch each episode thinking "god i hope he kisses someone this week! and uses the sonic screwdriver for the millionth time!"? I merely said the kissing schtick was lazy and sensationalist, not "the writers' agenda". As for the sonic screwdriver, it's just been massively overused, has too many ridiculous functions and like I said I hate the way he now holds it like some kind of gun in most episodes. So I should stop watching the show entirely because of two negative aspects?

I have no objection to kissing in general! Just the requirement to have the Doctor kiss *every* companion, regardless of whether or not they fancy each other. It's the running joke that's getting old.

I think the Tenth Doctor is getting unfair criticism here, especially if you call it his thing....and I say this because the Doctor isn't the one who usually insigates the kiss....he has done this only three times out of the 14 kisses he has been involved in.....one was the Ninth Doctor giving Rose a kiss of life as such, the second was the Tenth Doctor planting a genetic transfer on Martha, and then the third time when he kissed Astrid goodbye.....all the other kisses were deliverd by Rose, Jack, Jackie, Astrid, Rienette, Donna and now Lady Christina....and also four of them were kisses between him as a human and Joan......

It just seems odd that people will have a problem with the Doctor getting a snog, when it isn't him really going around kissing every companion as such.....and I would go as far as saying that they probably would have had things like the Doc kissing in the classic series, I mean the way the Fourth Doctor is with Romana 2, they might as well had a twenty minute snog fest.....but I think that they were worried that the audience wouldn't like it....and maybe in those days kissing was a huge scary thing to be on a kids TV programme.....but now it isn't, and the ones making the show right now are fans.....so maybe they can now do what the show wasn't allowed to do then

And this idea that the Doctor is an asexual alien.....I am sure I read somewhere that this was just a big fan halabalu......and really not actually stated by the show in any exact words.......but correct me if i am wrong

Anyway....this is probably the last kiss for the RTD era....and as this is supposed to be a romp....a kiss is part of that fun....at least for me it is...But the thing to remember is that Moffat's episodes prove that when the RTD era comes to end....the kissing and the "Dancing" will not......

As I pointed out there have been roughly 14 kisses that the Doctor has been involved in since the series began.....now please tell me how that is lazy idea....especially if you count the number of episodes in the whole of the four years?????

And I would have to disagree about the Sonic....I love the Sonic.....the only time I haven't liked it too much is in the Moffat episode where it saves a life!!!! But then something tells me that Moff probably read the views like yourselve....and again like that Kiss in TGITF he decided to annoy the hell out of you fans.....

Okay, I obviously didn't explain myself clearly enough. Apologies.

I'm not criticising the character of the tenth Doctor, I'm aware that most of the kisses have been non-romantic ones that weren't necessarily his 'fault'.

The idea of the Doctor kissing every companion, largely without romantic connotations, has become a running joke written into the series. Up until now it's been quite amusing, but I think the kiss with Donna should have been the last in that sequence- let the joke end before it gets boring. By 'a tenth doctor thing' I meant that the joke was intended for his character and hopefully not the next one.

The Doctor, whatever incarnation, kissing the occasional companion for romantic reasons is a whole other debate

I don't think it's so much a running joke more a trait of doc 10 like cricket was a trait of peter davison's doctor. Even if ti was, I don't see the point in stopping it just so save certain fans 10 seconds of boredom per companion.

It may not be a running Joke for Moffat.....but probably will always have more of a romantic/sexual reference than RTD's ever had.....so don't worry too much

And anyway.....if this joke is more for the Tenth Doctor.....then surely he deserves one last go.....before the rest of the episode get more about his time coming to an end.....and I am sure DT doesn't really mind

I actually though they were going to for a minute after the first 'I love you'.

Mickey may have turned down a snog with the doc, but I'm sure alternate world Ricky would have been up for it

Insert sci-fi fan stereotype here.

As for the sonic screwdriver...at least he's using it creatively nowdays and not just for reversing the bloody polarity on everything...now THAT was a running joke that got old fast.
