10-04-2009
my hubby was moving things in our garden and disturbed a nest of baby mice, i managed to save 2 and am now hand rearing them, so far so good and have been feeding every 2- 3 hours, am trying not to handle them too much as i want to release them in a couple of weeks,
Just thought i would tell u all and also post a pic of them, and they r sooooo cuteeeeee,

Very cute, just make sure when you release them you do it far away from your house, or you will have them back inside causing chaos.

Awww bless. Good for you, most people would say nasty things I think. Hope they will be okay.

I have a 6x4 shed outside my back door here, and mice took it over about a year ago now. I don't use it for anything other than the biggest mouse cage in the world! I put them a big dish of food in every night (peanuts are their favourites). Some of them get pretty tame and will come over almost to my hand. I set up the webcam one night to watch, and the most I've had is 11 at once coming to the dish.

I had to get something out of a bucket in there last year, and I also disturbed a nest with 4 tiny babies, one of them fell out but I put him back gently, and then checked a few hours later and the parents had moved the entire lot elsewhere. They have all sorts of places in there, mainly inside old rugs, buckets etc. I lifted up a rug to get to something else once and about two buckets full of stored food fell out on the floor!

I know, I have lost the plot and there is no hope for me.

Here's a couple of my pics -

aha so cute

i don't know why anyone would do it, but kudos to you
hope they do well

baby wild rabbits though... now that one makes zero sense to me. highly likely they'll die and it's a legal requirement for landowners to remove so many from their land

Very cute!!

We've rescued a few field mice in our time too, away from the salivating cats. People think I'm mad but they look so sweet, they deserve a chance - and they are not like the foul nasty grey mice mutant things you see on the tube lines - now they are yuk!
