Blackberry/Vodafone
My less than six month old Blackberry on a business contract has packed in. I can't get a hold of anyone due to Easter holidays.
The phone won't even turn on. What will Vodafone do regarding this? |

Depends on your contract/insurance, they will either repair or replace.

I've had various Blackberry's over the years and may be able to offer a little technical help!!
What time did you try calling Vodafone yesterday? I was on the phone to them at about 6pm, and the advisor said they were open til 10.30pm? Maybe that was just for general queries though, not technical help... Anyway, if you have insurance then they'll take it away for repair and give you a 'courtesy handset' (usually a fossiled Nokia or similar). if they can't repair it they'll give you a shiny new one. If you don't have insurance, they'll usually refer you to the manufacturer to claim through thier warranty, which in my experience is a lengthly and annoying process. I hope you have insurance!!

Got the phone working again. I found a tip on the internet - leave the battery out for 24 hours. Tried it and it booted up as usual.

With most other electrical/electronic items if something stops working you go back to the shop you bought it from as that is who the contract is with ( I mean the contract between you and them to buy an item) and they sort it out.
Is it different with mobiles ???? If I went back to somewhere with say a faulty tv after a few months and they told me to contact the manufacturer I'd tell them to get stuffed. |

The difference is that the shop won't be repairing the handset, they will just send it back to the manufacturer (or their sub-contractor). So its normally much quicker to send the handset yourself. You can still goto the store if you want, it will just introduce delay.
