There was not an episode of hers that went by without the doctor saying 'yea but Rose would do this' or pointing out in some way or the other that she's not good enough. I blame the writers if the laid off the Rose fascination maybe she would have been given a chance and been more likeable for the mass audiences.
TA about the christmas episode though it was definatley not up to expectations and POTD by any means was 100 times better than that.”
Maybe I was just being harsh on her (I certainly didn't mean to be), but both me and the other half felt it was a little dry. It made no difference - the youngest loved her! Like I say, I would be happy if she got the job full time. She had a better chance of getting our interest than Martha, and was on this evidence a stronger actress. I also like the aristo/thief angle. Could be fun.
I do think it's true that Martha was living in the shadow of Rose, and there's a reason for that. Simply put, Rose was a far more interesting character, and was played better by Billie. No question. Sorry, but Martha (the character) brought very little to Who for my money. I didn't dislike the lass, but wasn't sorry to see her go. She'd really outstayed the thing. But then also I feel the writers let her down with a pretty boring character and a naff plot about her being in love with the Doctor. It didn't work. So yeah to be fair she shouldn't shoulder all the blame.
