Gary Numan- The Pleasure Principle LIVE
Ricardodaforce
11-04-2009
From Numan's site.

This will be good.

Some of you may have noticed that a show at the Manchester Academy in November has just gone on sale on the NuWorld Store. This show was not intended to go on sale just yet until other ideas had come together but we've accidentally got a bit ahead of ourselves. However, we have decided to leave this show on sale but make the thinking behind it clearer for those of you interested in going to it.
This Manchester Academy show will be dedicated entirely to The Pleasure Principle album. This year is the 30th Anniversary of this album reaching Number 1, and of the Cars single that came from it, and so this show will celebrate those two anniversaries. It's possible that other Pleasure Principle shows will be added around this Manchester gig to create a Pleasure Principle mini tour. If that does come together we will announce any extra dates through Numind before putting them onto the main NuWorld web site. It depends somewhat on how much interest fans have in going to see a Pleasure Principle tour.

I thought he said he was not interested in nostalgia after the replicas tour?

I have no idea. If this show is half as good as the Replicas ones then it will be worth seeing.

That was the 1st album I ever bought. I'd love to see it played in the London area should it come off.

I remember buying that album for £3.99 on vinyl. His best work I think. I'd like to know how many times it's been sampled.

30 years has gone by far too quickly.

I read that (unlike the Replicas shows) he was going to do TPP exactly as per the album. Was that the case?

Hi

I was front row at the Manchester gig

Yes the album was played in the same spirit as the original pleasure principle album i.e no guitars

There was the drummer, 2 keyboard palyers from the normal band, the guitarist was on synths too, and a bass player

Numan played the synth (Virus) for most of the PP songs

I didn't sound exactly like the record or the original tour, but it was nice for it to be played without making it more industrial i.e Telekon 2006 and Replicas 2008

I got the reissue dvd of the Touring Principle video the first ever music video cassette ever released in the UK

My 79th Numan concert since 1983 and it was amazing

I think rather than do his new stuff at the end he could have thrown in War Songs, Zero Bars (Mr Smith), Steel and You along with Are Friends and Down in the Park (he performed both)

*Hangs head in shame at not waving to mrhairycub on Saturday*

I agree, was nice it not being as industrial. I just love the version of Are Friends Electric he now does on tour.

I have been going to his concerts since 1989 and have lost count, no where near 79 though!!! Long suffering Mr Trumpets, who gets dragged round all the concerts, just asked if you are part of the crew

Can't wait until next Monday now, going to the Wolverhampton one

So now one replaced Billy Currie's viola by the sounds of it. Shame. Would have been great for BC to be there so they could have done On Broadway.

Chris Payne his old violinist/keyboard player turned up at one of the gigs

Complex was amazing and dedicated to Paul

Can't wait for the dvd release of the PP tour, i've got the telekon one and the replicas one (which i'm on) )

I read somewhere that Gary Numan dropped Cedric Sharpley like a stone. No phone call, no nothing.

Does anyone know what happened to Ade Orange? He was always at every gig for a good few years and then suddenly nothing.
