Hi I have a Samsung PS42A457P1DXXU plasma and cinema system ht-tz215, I am using the optical out from my sky to the optical in on the sound system, and after about 2 months it developed an intermittent fault, the sound starts to go muffled, it sounds like all the speakers are playing the sound from the sub, (kinda hard to explain) I had only had the system for 2 , Samsung have sold the warranty to the retailer and the repair centre they use have said there is no fault on the system and I should expect "tinny" sound from the optical in. and the retailer (Empire Stores ) will not help

Anyone have any Ideas of what could be wrong or what I can do.

Thanks

try switching sky box off for 4 mins if sky + or 30 secs if an old one

probally sky film not being transmitted properly

you need to hook it up to another device to test amp

Not sure why a tinny sound was mentioned. If the sub was on the blink then it would be tinny. From your description it sounds like a problem with the main channels amp.

You need to do some troubleshooting to isolate where the fault lies.

Check your speaker connections. Make sure there are no stray wires hanging out that could short between the speaker terminals.

Check for damaged or trapped speaker wires.

Try the system on another input for a while - say, the phono sockets if it has them. Do you get the same fault occuring?
If Yes, then it's likely to be an amp fault
If No, then it could be the source or the amp's decoding.

Empire Direct went bust in mid Jan. How long have you had your system? Anyway, the administrators are in charge. Their job is to get some money back for the Government, then the creditors/suppliers.

There's a Customer Claim Registration Form here or you could contact the administrators directly. You could also try Citizens Advice for more help on the warranty issue.

Thanks for the advice I have checked all wires and no fault with them, when the fault accures if I switch to another souind setting ie from surround to matrix, or stereo then the falt clears but when I put it back to surrounfd it happens again, if i use the red/white phono sockets the fault clears.
also its not from empire direct its from empire stores now part of the Littlewoods group
