What a surprise that was! However, I hope she doesn't win purely because we have already had a singer win the programme, something else would be nice.

I would agree that technically it wasn't perfect but and there were one or two wobbly notes but it still took my breath away. A bit of specialised training and she will be world class.

It could have just been nerves. She said she had always wanted to sing in front of a large audience so that was probably her first time.

Blew me away completely last night and even had tears in my eyes. Just watched it another 3 times on that Youtube link and hairs standing up on the back of my neck and arms, tears in my eyes again. There's a note just underneath from someone's who knows her - her gran is friends with Susan and they are going to give her a makeover, bless.

I agree with the majority here, she was bloody fantastic and it was so unexpected. It helped that she sang one of my favourite songs from my favourite musical, too! I'll admit that I was on the "oh god, this is gonna be embarrassing" bus at first but she blew me away. I really do hope she goes far.

She needs a make-over, though!

Appreciate that mine is a subjective opinion but after all the fuss before the show, I really did expect better. And yes, I do think I could do better next year but don't think I would get in front of the judges as I do not have an interesting back story as I would not present myself as an eccentric virgin.

She does have a very good voice but it is certainly not world class.

I'm hypercritical of singers generally, but she did take my breath away, such raw talent. I confess to being jaw droppingly staggered when she sang, I was expecting some helium balloon voiced, shrill, tone deaf housewife, but she is something a bit special, and such humility and grace. I love her already.

I was laughing at the girl in the blue dress in the audience, i saw her pull an awful face last night and i thought "Get you" and then after Susan performed, it shot back to her again fab

I loved her attitude and cheeky presonality but I didnt expect to hear what i did, and when she started i just couldnt stop smiling. It was wonderful!

Dead right. To say that she has an amazing voice is nothing more than celebration of the average, which in itself is very indicative of our times.

I agree average is too celebrated nowadays, but what she did was everything but average. You seem to have forgotten how to be amazed!

I agree with you entirely. Susan's performance was simply amazing and what a beautiful voice. I hope she gets to the final.

....... and, yes, I also thought Flawless were superb. Such brilliant co-ordination throughout the routine.

What a lovely surprise Susan was. I agree that she sang beautifully. However, the surprise is the contrast of how she looks against how she sang. If she looked different, more stereotypically attractive, there wouldn't have been such a surprise and would we have thought she was as good? I'm waffling a bit but I hope you understand what I am trying to say? I hope they don't make her over too much.

It will be much better to listen to her again, now that the shock has gone.

I was there for her audition and the whole place was laughing at her, booing her and heckling her all before she had even started to sing!! However, when she started she was amazing!! The whole place were on their feet.

If you look back at my previous thread on the audition, I said that I believed she was going to win - I still think this.

Watched on YouTube and was blown away but this lady. Amazing voice and a gentle soul. Am love d Simon's face - you could almost see the pound signs!

I agree with you and others saying similar things. She only appeared to be good because of the way she looked. If she had been as you say "stereotypically attractive", no-one would be raving about her.

Yep, that's a very good point. I think she's a very intelligent woman, she knows how these shows work and totally went along with the gag - and delivered one hell of a punchline.

But I can't deny that she has a remarkable voice, had I heard it on the radio I'm pretty sure I'd be equally as compelled.

I trust that you will be auditioning for other stuff though. If you have a better voice that Susan then you will go far.

Her voice is beautiful. I listened to the audition without the pictures today just to see what I thought of the voice and it's stunning. So good luck to anyone who has a voice like that. If others have a better voice then we want to hear it.

She's solid proof not to prejudge before a person's talent is revealed, for some saying there were some wobbly notes...it's called nerves! I'm sure everyone in this thread's had them at some point, musical theatre can be very tense as I've done a little myself. Tbh I didn't know what to expect when she walked on, it looked like she was going to entertain in one way or another. But wow, that audience were bitchy!

I think this is what makes this programme so unique. What an absolutely wonderful, moving voice. She made me cry ( not difficult as I've seen Les Miz 9 times on stage and generally start snivelling about 20 minutes in.)

As she's both too old and no oil painting ( that's a fact in theatre/entertainment land, not a knock at her) I think she'd make a brilliant Madame Thenadier....are you listening Cameron???

susan is quite a character.. i've watched the you tube clip again and again and she has a lovely voice.. it is a shame her deceased parents did not get to see her success.. song choices will be crucial if she makes the final.. i suspect simon knows who he wants to win.. even if susan does not win, nothing will ever take away the 'surprise' of what turned out to be an outstanding audition..
