I know this is probably a bit late to start this thread, but week 5 is getting mixed up a bit with week 4 etc .... so here we go:
Chuck & Julienne VW should be smooth and elegant; Chuck was stiff and awkward, and Julienne looked a bit manic - the phrase "over dancing" springs to mind. Sometimes on the vt clips Chuck looks so blank - and dare I say - bored, I wonder if he really wants to do the show at all. [23]
Lawrence & Edyta Great music - but that's the only positive I can think of. Like last week, Lawrence did very little, and let Edyta do all the work. Lawrence needs to understand that to dance ballroom & Latin, you actually need to move! [20]
Shawn & Mark Overall a very nice VW; Shawn needs to work on her footwork, because this would give her more power and movement. [26]
Melissa & Tony Hated the music, (not a paso) but loved everything else - the costuming, the routine, and the performance were all great. I know she had a few mistakes, but this happens when someone tries really hard to tackle what was quite a complicated routine. [25]
David & Kim Stiff, awkward and generally uncomfortable to watch. [22]
Gilles & Cheryl I initially watched the youtube clip and thought Gilles paso was amazing. On tv it was slightly less so - but only very slighty. The fault wasn't Gilles, but the fact the music was too fast which made the dance look manic. But Gilles and Cheryl? WOW! [29]
Steve & Lacey VW - I realise they were dancing to a French tune, but VW is from - hey big surprise! - Vienna, so the costumes looked strangely bizarre. And I hate to disagree with Bruno, but the timing was definitely off in places. [18]
Ty & Chelsie Again dreadful music for paso. Ty has absolutely no sense of rhythm or musicality - Bruno said he looked like a robot, and I can't think of anything better. Also, I don't think I have ever seen anyone with such a blank, expressionless face. [21]
Lil Kym & Derek Their VW was smooth, elegant and it really moved; I found it quite mesmerising. If the footwork had been better I'm sure the marks would have been higher [26]
Result
In the dance off David scored 24 and Lawrence only 20, so clearly the public must have voted heavily in Lawrence's favour after the main show. Personally, dance wise, I didn't think there was much to choose between them, but felt maybe Lawrence tipped the scales on likeability?
