How fickle are the BGT Audience! Never judge a book by its cover!

When Susan Boyle came on the stage she got booed and people in the audience were pulling faces at her ( probably clever editing but im sure there were some people who were having a good laugh! )
It just shows how spikeful the british public are and that they should never judge a book by its cover! they all seemed intersted in the stupid ferrero rouche man but yet heckled susan down before she even opened her mouth!
If i was in that audience i would be ashamed of myself if i was shown on telly to be a nasty person!

I was in the audience for her audition (it was a different ausdience for the ferrero rouche man) and i honestly didn't hear any boos. Yes, there were people pulling a few faces, but that was more to do with the conversation between her and the judges rather than the fact she wanted to be like Elaine Paige or was going to sing.

I don't think they're fickle - just shallow, judgemental and stupid. They seem to think that only the 'beautiful' can possibly have any talent so the 'ugly' must be deluded and are there to be jeered at.

God knows what they'd have made of people like Luciano Pavarotti, Aretha Franklin and James Brown if they'd ever appeared on a BGT-type show instead of establishing careers by the longer route.

Can you honestly say you didn't think she was going to be an odd ball, of course unless you read the papers?

You are spot on there. Too many people judge others by appearances or materialistic things, and they are the ones who are least entitled to judge others IMO. When Susan Boyle was talking about her ambitions, the cameras cut to some young girls in the audience who were clearly sneering. I wonder if they are sneering now?

So calling most of the people in the country shallow is somehow not judgemental, is it?
Wow.

I thought it was disrespectful, if they were indeed pulling faces at the banter then fine, but laughing at her appearance is not on.

I did, and thought it was going to be one of those embarrassing Xfactor type performances. Then my wife said no, she's gonna be another Paul Potts.
Then she started singing and humble pie was being eaten by me and my wife saying I told you so.

I didn't read any of the reviews and had no idea who would be on or what they would do, but when Susan came on, I said to my family that I had a feeling she would be great - and she was.

Susan to win (won't happen though).

Yeah i agree with the OP - some of their faces were a picture!, although to be fair, the audience were very encouraging once she'd proceeded to sing.

I hope she does well. So far she is probably my favourite but i'm looking forward to seeing next weeks talent
