Normally I hate these one offs as Tennant just seems to be wandering around without anyone.

However it seemed that Michelle Ryan just got into the temp assistant role really well and seemed like she had been there for a long time and you though she was the regular companion.

Much better than the likes of David Morrisey who was dreadful and Kylie Minogue who was quite possibly the most wooden character in the history of the modern show.

Sorry to burst your cloud, but I didn't like Michelle in this, nor EastEnders, nor in Bionic Woman, which, may I add, the USA broadcaster AXED IT due to very low ratings and that Michelle's acting was described as total pap.

Just to be pedantic, it was Bionic Woman not Wonder Woman

You're not bursting his cloud - you clearly dislike michelle ryan, so your opinion is obviously skewed.

I would agree with the OP actually - I thought she was great. I think if anything, whoever the next full time assistant should be, the part should be written in the same fashion - less of the sidekick who always gets into trouble and needs rescuing, more of an actual assistant who is pro-active and has a brain.

Yeah, I couldn't take Michelle's 'posh' accent seriously. And some of her acting/one liners were a bit off e.g. when she was going on about dead people's dust in her hair.

I'm sorry, her acting was awful, she was great to look at, and whoever slagged off Kylie in the special must have been watching a diff programme, as I thought she was fine in it!
I think it was a poor special as well to be honest.

Thought that she'd be good, but her acting was poor and the writing for her character was abysmal.

You're not alone. It was beaten in the ratings by 'Britain's Got Talent' a show which apparently featured a man blowing up a hot water bottle until it burst, and pulling a VW van with his ear.

BTW, among the many things I did not 'get' from last night's Dr Who, was why an energy gem should need five - or for that matter any - anti-gravity clamps. Also, how fitting anti-grav clamps to the bus made it possible to steer.

...because it's Doctor Who

Well she was easy on the eye ! I liked her accent , but there were a couple of dodgy acting bits .

the ones I can't stand are the passengers , particularly that old couple who were having chops for tea (jeezus , gimme a break) why do they always have to fill out these stories with crap characters like this ?

I dislike her in everything I've ever seen her in i.e. Eastenders, Merlin and now Dr Who. She can't act. She's not even good-looking. She's bland but the BBC seem determined to shoe-horn her into every production going.

Oh I get it now. You asked and she turned you down. That's where all the bitterness comes from.

She was and is an embarrassment. Biggest joke is that she was named 20th most beautiful woman in the world.

Haha, I don't think so. She has nothing which would interest me, but she also cannot act and there is no possible reason why she should pop up in Jekyll, Merlin or Dr Who.

I have to disagree. David Morrissey is a fab actor and I enjoyed Kylie's character. I don't really like the 1 hour specials but I liked those two although my favourite is the one DT's Who first appeared in.

I'd have liked Rosita (Velile Tshabalala) to have joined him for a bit. Her punching Miss Hartigan in the jaw was a highlight of the Christmas special for me and I think she'd have been excellent as a tough, cynical, no nonsense companion.

That's more or less her actual accent though, she's not a cockney although you'd be forgiven for thinking so as she played one for years but she does have quite a posh accent.

This thread is horrible, alot of what I can only assume is jealously because a pretty girl is doing well for herself.

I thought Christina was ok, she and the sl didnt seem to fit together for me somehow, when I was watching the first scene I felt like I was watching Hustle but I do feel there is some scope for the character, Michelle's a good actress, I hope she does come back.

Although i disagree I think the best one off assistant was Kylie Minogue as Astrid.

I want her back in Eastenders..If anyone is gonna be returning there i would rather see her back , rather than Jessie Wallace, (i know rumours etc)..lol..But dont think it wil happen..

If Catherine Tate hadn't been signed up for Series 4, she would have got my vote for 'Runaway Bride'. But as it stands, I would go for:-
1. Michelle Ryan
2. Kylie
3. David Morrisey

Yeah! It must have been rubbish! It was beaten in the ratings by Britain's most consistently high rated TV show!

I didn't think too much of her as a character and her acting was quite awful in Merlin (but so was the whole show).

Much preferred David Morrisey's character myself but she is definitely the best eye candy as far as new who companion's go so far in my opinion. Rose, Martha and Donna were a bit lacking in that department and as sexy as Kylie is on stage, she did nothing for me in Voyage Of The Damned.

Aren't you gay though? What appeals to you and to straight females in a woman isn't necessarily what appeals to straight males..

That's a "feature" of DS forums don't you know ?

Just read the threads about Myleene ...
