OK, if I could only turn the clock back so this is mainly for the young ladies reading...

Moisturise at least once a day - all over. You will thank me when you're 40.

Hair - leave it natural as much as possible. Dying, blow-drying, straightening, curling it will only damage it in the longrun - it might look good now but over time it won't.

I cleanse tone and moisturise my face and neck daily. When you say moisturise all over, do you mean face or body?

hmmm.... Light colours in the corner of your eyes like white or silver will make your eyes appear bigger

Don't use fake tan to the point where your orange? xx

oh, and I agree with the hair thing. I don't blow dry or do anythin to mine unless I have to go out or something or I'm running late. Too much heat does nothing for the condition xx

If your hair is looking dull and unmanageable try washing it with Fairy Liquid. This will get rid of all the product build up and leaves your hair glossy, soft and manageable. I wash mine this way about every six washes. Hairdressers will shake their heads in horror but don't listen, give it a try.
Fairy liquid also fades hairdye so if you dye your hair a vibrant colour dont wash your hair with it.

For anyone who gets the odd breakout of spots dab some basil oil on them and leave for 20 mins. Clears my spots in half the time it usually takes.

Make time to apply a face mask. I think it's recommended that you apply one once a week, but I never do.

I have one on at the moment. I can't remember the last time I had a face mask

ETA - Tone & Moisturise afterwards.

If you run out of shaving foam use some conditioner instead. I find conditioner actually works a lot better than shaving foam.

When moisturising your face always rub it into your neck as well. No sense in a smooth face but wrinkly neck when you're 50.

If you have sensitive skin and tendancies to acne.....(i am allergic to moisterisers soap cleansers everything they make my face come up in burns/breakouts) nutrogena clear bar dermitalogical soap. It. is. amazing. used it for over a year now used to have to buy it online but they now stock it in boots..

also mac studio fix powder foundation and GOSH big sun bronzer (superdrug) - i also love their nail polish and the eye liner is waterproof/bombprooof - you are not getting it off.

instead of penciling in eyebrows all the time... tint them with a fine paintbrush and tint/activator from sallys beauty....paint it to the perfect brow shape ...15 mins...whipe off gently with damp cotton wool....last 3/4 days depending on the brand you get....makes them look more naturally full

last but not least for shimmer on the cheeks my mate (makeup artist) advised me to get mac irridescent and i havent looked back - larvvvvvvly.

When you have finished applying lipstick/gloss, put your finger in your mouth and then pull it out while your mouth is in an 'o' shape. No lipstick or gloss will transfer to your teeth!!

Don't use wipes to cleanse your skin because you will be pulling the skin and causing wrinkles.. Cleansing the skin should be done in gentle circular movements and moisturiser should be gently applied to the skin - pat it on rather than rubbing.

I am always being told 'you've got lipstick on your teeth' and so I tried your tip. Marvelous, no more tooth lippy and no more comments. Thank you x

For puffy eyes, place the back of an ice cold teaspoon under the eyes for a few seconds. The coldness helps reduce puffiness.

Test for dehydration by pinching the skin on the back of your hands, if it takes more than a single second for it retract- then it is time to start drinking plenty of water...

Rest of the beauty tips are here girls! Add and contribute http://blog.girlondon.com/girlondon-...ey-eyedbeauty/

My friend works in a hairdressers and makeup salon & said to always shampoo twice! The first time just gets rid of the grease but the second does the intense conditioning

To get the true colour of the nail polish in the bottle, put on two coats of white polish first, then the selected colour over the white (couple of coats)

Colour pops like never before.
Fantastic tip!

When applying mascara, I always put on a clear coat before the colour - I basically never get clumps if I do this.

I use Vaseline on my eyebrows to make them look more defined. It also makes them softer.

This is something my mum always tells me to do. She never moisturised her neck as a teenager and she says it shows because of it

I love this thread, I do several of these things already and will try others. Another big fan of Vaseline and cotton buds here!

If applying a loose powder eyeshadow, first use your powder puff to pat on a patch of powder below the eye. If you get wee specks of eyeshadow landing there just lightly brush away the powder and it takes the specks with it without spoling the foundation/powder below.

If you do get a speck of mascara or eyeshadow, use the end of your cotton bud and lightly twist rather than rubbing.

Wet a cotton bud or your eyeshadow brush and use with eyeshadow to apply a liquid eyeliner style line along the upper lid, or for stronger colour.

I thought we could do with a thread to share hints, tips and tricks about anything beauty/fashion related and to discuss anything to do with it

heres a few;
Wash your hair in cold water, as cold as you can take it. It makes your hair softer and shinier
If you've recentley dyed/bleached your hair and its in bad condition then after you've shampooed your hair pat it untill its just damp and put conditioner on. Wrap a towel around it and leave the conditioner on for a few hours - over night if poss, then wrinse off. After a few times it'll soon be back to normal
thanks for the tips i didin't know the trick with cold water

Thanks againd

Just found a post I made in 2009 on this thread!

When applying bright, powder eye shadow, fold a tissue and hold it on your cheek under your eye. That way it doesn't ruin the rest of your make up when little bits fall.

If your having anything waxed, whether it be your legs, your eyebrows or your bikini line, you should take a pain killer half an hour before. This dulls the pain. I was told this by a beauty therapist and it's true, it works.

If i've got dry lips, i stick a bit of olive oil on my finger and then a little sugar or salt on top of that. Then gently rub in circular motions onto lips to wok as a lip scrub.

The sugar/salt scrubs away dry bits and the oil softens. Salt is harsher.

Then when its all washed off, apply a balm. And drink lotsof water to hydrate!

Like the tip about moisturing neck as well as face.

Another tip, if you've got a perfume/body lotion set, spray perfume first, then apply lotion on top. Really makes smell last longer.
