If Simon Cowell left BGT...
Sunday Sun

Would the show survive without him? He is rumoured to want to give one of the following shows up: BGT, American Idol, X Factor.

Do you think people tune in because of him? Who would they get if he did decide to give up being a judge?

I think if he left the show would lose alot of viewers, I just think he's so influential it just wouldn't be the same if he left.

I like American Idol but I love X Factor and BGT so I hope he leaves AI.

I think he should give up American Idol.

I love him on BGT and XF and I think he makes the show what it is and I love waiting for his comments more than any other judge.

I think if he left, the show would definitely lose viewers. But he's built the show up to such a huge height (10m+ ratings), that even if a lot of people switched off the show would still be getting very good ratings for the channel.

He said in a recent interview that American Idol is the most likely one to go. Though he might have been fibbing.

He won't leave BGT now that he's found Susan...

He should drop American Idol. He is british and should concentrate on talent and shows over here. BGT however has to be one of the most interesting shows out of them all seeing as you really do never know what is coming next, bizzare or otherwise.

I would no longer watch if Simon Cowell left.

He is the one judge the contestants want to impress. Without him there would be no kudos to the show.

I completely agree with you. If he did leave BGT, I could see viewing figures dropping. No one could successfully fill his shoes as a judge in my opinion.

The thing is, he keeps saying that he'll leave one of the shows, but American Idol is the most popular show in America and keeps him in the American media and on American TV... XF and BGT are two of the most popular shows in the UK and both of them are his, so he's going to want to stay on them so that he can milk them for as much as they're worth - if the ratings on his own show go down after he leaves - surely he's costing himself by sending his shows to an early grave... I just can't see him leaving any of them, he's too smart.

I think BGT is the last one he would quit. It doesn't take too much time. They do auditions in January and then the live shows are over in a week at the end of May. Whereas XF has additional stages of bootcamp and judges houses then 10 weeks of live shows (Idol is the same).

But I actually think BGT would be least harmed by his absence. They've still got Ant & Dec and the judges don't seem to be quite as important on this. I wouldn't be surprised if he kept doing 3 shows (even though that might involve leaving Idol after next year and starting X Factor USA).

I would be soo gutted if he left I agree with most of your comments.. Simon does make the show imo.. everyone wants to impress Simon. I think that BGT would probably be the least harmed if he did leave.. as the judges don't really have as much input as they do on AI and XF.. having said that i would rather him leave AI (only because i don't watch it as much as i watch BGT and XF ).. but i reckon XF and AI would be seriously harmed if he did leave.

I don't think any of them would be the same if he left. Love him or hate him, he is a huge part of these shows ... like the fixtures and fittings you'd expect to see.

I no longer care for the X factor though so if he were to leave that, I wouldn't care either way

I'd rather he left American Idol as i don't watch it

But X Factor (in particular) and BGT just wouldn't be the same without him rolling his eyes and pretending to be bored when the camera is on him

lol.. he wouldnt leave AI.. while he is on that he has influence in America.

More likely to leave XF or BGT.. more likely BGT because XF acts are likely to last longer.

I really cannot see Simon leaving XF seeing as how his label has a £1m commitment to the winner. Would he be able to exert as much influence over the proceedings if he wasn't on the judging panel?

If he leaves one show my bet would be on BGT - I think it would have a detrimental affect on the show unless they got someone very special to replace him - maybe Ant and Dec could take over as judges!

Totally agree with you.

Mind you I'd still watch AI if he left that and I would only stop watching BGT if Ant and Dec left.

I think the thing that makes Britains Got Talent better than Americas Got Talent, in my opinion, is the fact that we have Simon. BGT is such a unique and enjoyable show I don't think he would leave it.

I also think he looks quite bored on AI, people said on last year's X Factor Simon looks bored, but I think he looks even more bored on American Idol to be honest. He's made his mark on America and I think that will be the show he leaves if he does chose one.

Theirs three reason why BGT is so succesfull

1. Ant and Dec are so popular

2. Simon Cowell

3. The show is betta than xfactor and the ratings for BGT are amazing higher than Xfactor for audtions the first series averaging near 12 million

Its Ant and Dec are more likely not to return if they dont sign with ITV again this summer

X Factor was his creation, with the winner signed up to his company.

American Idol gives him presence in the USA.

Britain's Got Talent...... ?????

If he were to drop one, I think it's pretty obvious it would be BGT.

I think I'd be left HUGELY disappointed by him leaving Britain's Got Talent, as he's the show fullstop as far as the Judges go. Simon's made a name for himself as the main Judge, so leaving would destroy all those memories we have of him on past shows. You could say that we're used to having him on shows like this, and for this, him leaving would destroy it likely.
