New set up has xbox 360 sound issues

I have just bought a Philips 42 PFL7603D. I have my Xbox 360 plugged in via HDMI. I have the TV's SPDIF out going into my BOSE Lifestyle 8 Series 2 SPDIF in. But the sound when I play games is not working, it is jittery. DVD play back via the xbox works fine. Any ideas of the problem? Thanks in advance!

I have had a look but only quickly. I will have another look. Does anyone know what format the sound output from the xbox HDMI is. My Bose only does Dolby Digital not DTS or HD Sound

The TV's SPDIF output isn't intended for that, you need a direct connection from the Xbox to your Bose.

Thanks for th info. What is it for then I was not expecting to find one! I would normally have researched this before hand but did not intend to buy a TV this weekend. Damn those Easter Sales and credit cards!

It is probably there to provide a digital audio output from the TVs built in Freeview or Freesat receiver. It is unlikely to be able to relay audio from other sources.

For clarification I connected as stated i.e. XBox 360 to TV via HDMI, TV SPDIFOut (Coax) to Bose Surround. I did get some sound when playing a game (Far Cry 2) but it was jittery. If there was no pass through from HDMI to SPDIF out then surely there wouldbe no noise?
I have called Philips and the chap on the phone said it might be software (never had a TV that needed updating before!), but was not sure if it was supposed to work like that anyway. I will update when I hear back from them

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...=Link_Software software upgrade if you need it

in page 24 of TV manual there are several sound adjustments and you may have to play about with it

Update did the trick. Now works fine. Thanks all.
